Heading out the bedroom, I make my way down towards the kitchen

Heading out the bedroom, I make my way down towards the kitchen. "Alex?" I call.

Hmm, no response. When I woke up this morning, I was expecting to roll over into the cosiness of Alex's body, but he wasn't there, and the bed was cold.

"Alex?" I call again, looking around the quiet space.

I walk to the coffee machine and see a small note propped against it.

Had to go into the club this morning.

Will be back this afternoon.

Don't go out anywhere without your security.

Love you peaches.

A x

Peaches, that bloody nickname. I shake my head at the thought and place the note down. Grabbing a mug, I place it under the machine, press the button and inhale the fresh scent of coffee.

What should I do today? I'm kind of bored around here, especially when Alex is working.

Padding to the bedroom, I make quick work of throwing on some comfy clothes and brushing my teeth and hair before grabbing my laptop and heading back to the kitchen. I perch myself at the breakfast bar along with my coffee and open it up.

I haven't thought too much about what it means now things are back to normal, or relative normal. Alex invited me into his home when I was at risk of being hurt, and now the threat has gone, I can't just expect to live here 24/7.

I make a mental list of things to do this morning and get to work on them straight away.

Two hours later, I've updated my website and contacted a publishing team about getting some business cards and personalised promotional material done to promote myself as an artist.

With the money I will have soon, from my gran, I'll be able to set myself up bigger online as a self-employed artist. A full time job. How in the hell do I do that?

I read through all the websites, blogs and posts I can find about being self-employed and starting up small businesses when it comes to me. Olivia!

I grab my phone and send her a quick text, asking how she's doing and seeing when she's available to meet up. She must be nearing her due date, so I don't hold my breath and focus on finding as much out as I can online.

I get an almost instant reply with a time, date, and location. Wow, this girl is organised. I click the link and open up a website. Belle's Bakes? I send her a reply and focus on my next job on my mental checklist.

An apartment.

I spend the next hour bookmarking potential apartments in the city that are within a reasonable budget. With this, I'll be able to offer Milly a place to stay once she returns from her live-in nannying duties over summer.
