Pain in my arm is the first thing to hit me, then comes the throbbing in my head.

I blink my eyes and focus my vision on the white surroundings and bright lights.

Shit.

Where the hell am I?

I blink my eyes a few times, trying to adjust to the lighting before shifting my head left.

As my vision clears, I notice it's a hospital room I'm lying in. There's a chair in the corner, Alex is perched with his arms resting on his thighs, phone in hand.

A hospital?

Alex?

"Alex," my voice comes out hoarse, my throat dry and desperate for fluids.

Alexander's eyes snatch up to mine, "Rosie."

He stands and walks towards my bed. I rise slowly and a rush of nausea hits me, causing me to groan.

"Hey hey, don't sit up, stay there," Alex rushes over to my side. He sits on the edge of the hospital bed, pushing my hair back from my face.

"What happened?" I ask, eyeing the needle sticking out of my arm.

"You went into hypoglycaemic shock. Your blood pressure dropped too low," he replies, sighing.

"Rosie, when was the last time you ate?" he asks, and I can sense the anger in his voice. He's speaking through gritted teeth.

"I've been eating," I reply quietly.

"That's not what I asked Rosie, now answer the question and don't lie to me," he replies sternly.

I sigh as the tears threaten to roll. "Tuesday night," I whisper.

"Fuck!" he seethes, "Now why the fuck haven't you eaten in three days?".

I let the sobs break free.

"Rosie," Alexander whispers gently reaching his hand up to my face. "I was so scared baby, what's going on?"

I hiccup through the sobs, "I don't have any money to buy food."

Alexander's eyebrows pull together.

"Why didn't you come and ask me for help?" he asks, and I frown, what does he expect me to do? Come and ask for money for food like a beggar?

I wipe the tears from my cheeks, "I'm not a charity case Alexander."

"I never said you were Rosie," he shakes his head.

I cry freely now. Alexander leans forward and wraps his arms around my core, pulling me carefully to him. I bury my face in his neck. I've missed being in his arms so much.

"Shh baby, please don't cry," Alex replies, rubbing his hand through my hair. "Talk to me, tell me what's going on," he whispers.

I sniffle, wipe my eyes and lean back. "Me and Milly, we can barely afford our apartment, but we managed to keep up with the payments, using our loans and money we earnt over summer," I start.
