The stomps of the griever slowly became quiet when I heard another large scrape of a wall changing when my eyes widened again and the thought of the closing doors to the maze popped into my head.

I scurried out of the vines and started sprinting to the entrance.

I dashed around a corner, that was close to the entrance of the maze when my eyes widened and I was face to face with a griever.

It's teeth bared and long tail flexed above it's head. It saw me and I froze, my body giving up slightly when it growled.

It started running. It's large legs galloping towards me, "Shit!" I spoke to myself before starting to sprint.

My legs giving up a little from all the running when I was thrown to the ground, my head smacking against the hard concrete ground.

I looked up, the large beast looming over me. I screamed. Hearing my loud yell echoing around the maze and into the glade.

Suddenly, there was an intense pain running up my arm. I looked down to see the griever digging it's teeth into my arm.

I screamed again as the tooth dug further into my arm and blood started to poor from the wound.

My ears started to ring and my eyes went fuzzy. I reached into my belt that ran across my back and chest. My hand wrapped around the handle of one of the two knifes that stuck into the belt and I yanked it from its pouch.

I held it up and quickly swung it down into the griever's eye. It yelled and fell back when there was a loud rip and the tooth that was in my arm stayed in my arm.

The creature recoiled and scurried off as I fell back again and gripped my wound with one hand, tears streaming down my face.

That's when I heard it. The bang of the doors closing. My heart stopped and I ran to the entrance, and froze when I turned the corner to be faced with the huge concrete slabs blocking me from the glade.

The tears started to flow even faster and a loud sob came from my lips. I was stuck in the maze with the grievers for the rest of the night.

"Newt..." I cried. My voice cracking as I whispered. My hand sliding against the wall when another screech from a griever reached me from somewhere in the maze and I stood up.

Making my way back to a small hole of vines and crawling inside, still holding onto the wound caused in my arm. I sat there and cried.

Newt POV:

As I worked through the day, I still felt the tingling sensation on my lips. My mind filled with Y/n when I saw the sun start to set and I finished my work for the day.

I looked over to the doors of the maze when Thomas and Minho ran in. Both their faces in shock and horror and... no Y/n.

I sprinted over, stopping in front of them both, "Where's N/n?"

"She ran, the griever chasing her I-... she saved us." Minho looked back into the maze when there was a scream of walls moving.

My wide eyes flashed towards the doors that started to close and I sprinted over only to have a pair of arms wrap around my torso and hold me back.

"NEWT! WE CAN'T GO IN!" Gally pulled me away from the entrance as Thomas helped to yank me away.

"But she's in there! She could be getting killed and we-" I chocked on my words when I was cut off by Y/n.

Her scream echoing into the glade making my heart pump even faster than before. Gally loosened his grip and I dashed towards the maze when Minho grabbed my arm and pulled me back just as the doors thumped shut and Y/n screams again.

"SHE'S IN THERE! MINHO WE-"

"Newt! She is a strong girl, she'll be fine." Behind Thomas's eyes I could see a glint of fear making my stomach churn as tears started to slip down my face.

That was until Chuck came over, his face contorted from his normal happy self to worry. "W-where is she?" He stuttered.

I looked away, my eyes travelling to the tall concrete walls when another scream was heard then a griever shrieking before large stomps followed and then the maze settled again.

I saw Chuck's eyes widen, "no..." he breathed before tears flowed down his face.

I turned to Thomas, all my anger building up in me, "HOW IS SHE IN THERE AND YOUR NOT?!" I pointed at the maze.

"She... she protected us. Took the griever away from us so we could escape." Minho spoke up, his voice smaller than normal.

I crouched down on the floor next to Chuck, sitting with my knees held up to my chest, staring at the walls of the maze.

"She'll make it out." I heard Gally whisper to himself before walking away.

Thomas crouched down next to me and patted my shoulder, "She can do this."
