Chapter 17: Change of Plans

It hurt like hell to let my Jiminshi go especially on his own so I said a prayer asking God to guide him and me. And I'm proud to say, 'My God never fails me'. Everything was falling into place. Jimin's dad was still supporting him and Al was going with him to Florida. Jimin had messaged me after lunch to say they had arrived safely and I could finally breathe a sigh of relief. He was safe and I could work much better knowing we were going to be okay. My workplace was close to my parent's home so after work I decided to visit them and Suki. I sat them all down and let them know what had happened and Jimin's secret. When I told them, my parents were totally shocked at first but Suki was totally fascinated.

"OMG, Kook. I've never heard of anyone like that before," she exclaimed as my mother went on her laptop. "What are you doing mom?" Suki asked as she went behind her.

"I'm looking up about it. I know very little about hermaphrodites but I can learn." I sat down next to her and looked at her face. She looked up at me and smiled, "You have been blessed, my love. Jimin is a blessing. With him having this condition gives you both the option of having children naturally. Not every same-sex couple can say that."

"Yes we know but it's if Jimin wants to do it."

My mom was a bit confused, "What do you mean? He doesn't want to make that change?"

I tried to explain it to her, "He's still trying to figure it out. That's why he's gone to talk with other people with his condition. There are people who were successful at having a baby and are living happily."

"Hmm... that's good but everyone's condition is different. It says here about 1.7% of the world's population are hermaphrodites/intersex and there are different types. Most babies born like this are changed at birth so even though they were born that way, their parents or doctors make the decision for them to live as one sex."

I told them about Jimin's parents, "Jimin's parents didn't. They wanted him to decide which one he wanted."

My dad got into the conversation, "But that would've confused him especially as he had a brother and a sister. His body would've been going through changes that he would see happening to them both."

"Well his sister, Jane was only six years when she died. She wouldn't have gone through puberty as yet. But not only that, after she died, Jimin overheard his mother saying she wished he had died instead and that he was a freak of nature."

It was the first time I ever heard my mother cursed, "WHAT THE FUCK?!!"

"Maaa..." I was going to tell her to watch her language but she stopped me.

"No mother should ever think or say that about her child. She never should've uttered such atrocities ever. EVER!!! No wonder Jimin froze when we had spoken about her. THAT BITCH! She's lucky she's dead because the things I would tell her..."

Wow! I had a temperament just like my mom. She also made me remember when they first met Jimin and asked about his mom. They realised something was wrong but thought it was just the fact that she was dead. My mom was still upset about hearing this and continued expressing her thoughts.
