CHAPTER 02

A good morning dawned on me. Isang gabi ang dumaan na nagbigay ng saya sa akin——ang makasama siya kahit sa sandali.

I got up and fixed myself. I happily went down the stairs. Our chief was the first to greet me and was happy to see me.

"Good morning, queen."

"Good morning." I reciprocated his smile. "Where are they?"

"In the front yard. And the food is ready, queen."

"I want a light meal for the kids." He nodded and calmly left. I next went to the front yard, and there I saw them, but Rain and Lisa were the only ones there. I simply looked around.

Hindi pa ako nakalapit sa kanila nang umatras ako at bumalik sa itaas——sa mismong silid ng aking anak. My son wasn't here. Lumapit ako sa kaniyang study table at binuklat ang notebook na nasa itaas nito. Mga notes na hindi pamilyar sa akin. He's writing poems and short letters using different languages. May calligraphy din siya and collections of short quotations. The whole room was also quiet, and I could only smell the lemon.

Pinagmasdan ko ang iba pa niyang mga gamit at maayos niya naman itong nailigpit ganoon na rin maging ang kaniyang higaan. I went to the door, my feet were on the outside and I was about to leave. I looked inside again, looking at the four corners of it, and slightly closed the door. I took a deep breath and went down again.

I next went to the kitchen to check the corner. I just thought that maybe if I forgot something to do or finish.

"Queen?" My soul was startled when a woman spoke from behind me. I turned to her and then she smiled.

"Did I surprise you?" she said jokingly.

"Almost startled," I insisted and smiled as well. "Anyway, have you eaten?"

"Mamaya pagkatapos ko sa mga gawain." Kinuha niya ang garbage bag mula sa trash bin.

"May ipapagawa ka ba sa akin mamaya?" Ngumiti lang ako, tumango naman siya at saka lumabas na rin.

I checked the backyard and it was just quiet, too. The pool, the garden, everything is fine. I went back to the front yard where my husband and daughter were.

"Hi, Mommy." Lisa greeted me with a smile. I approached Rain and sat down next to him.

"Hey, good morning." He smiled at me and got up to kiss me. I immediately blocked my palm against his face. Our daughter was looking at us. I just smiled at it and she ignored us and continued with her play. Inalis ni Rain aking kamay at nginitian ako ng masama.

"It's Saturday," he teasingly said.

"And?"

"Masosolo ulit kita mamaya," pabulong niyang sabi. Tinitigan ko siya ng kay lagkit saka kinurot ang kaniyang ilong.

"Nananakit ka," reklamo niya at hinimas ito.

I raised my brows and said, "I'm the only one who could hurt you that little bit. Just me."

"You are a sadist."

"But you are more sadistic, on the bed."

He licked his lips and bit the lower lip. "I can only hurt you with pleasure." I smiled and rolled my eyes. He gazed at me in great adoration, but a few questions still lingered in my mind.

"It's time for breakfast." I leaned my head close to him. "I'm hungry now."

"Then eat me," he whispered. I pinched his nose and stood up as well.
