CHAPTER 19

"I wondered how it goes well, but I ain't sure about it. And maybe something went wrong."

"Your speculations, Mr. Guevara."

"Cynthia thought about it." I worried a little.

"Fighting the one you love is not easy as what, others thinking. After all sacrifices is the main subject of it."

"When you give until there's nothing left," I concluded. "That's what love is."

"Kara is weak," he added. "I know she's been there for many times and I feel sorry about it. Pakiramdam ko ay nagkulang ako ng malaki sa kaniya bilang kanyang isang tiyuhin."

"We aren't perfect. We are humans. Likewise, we create problems and even solutions. Furthermore, we're vulnerable in anything in this world."

"Ashleigh," he sighed. "I feel weak and even though I'm a man, my conscience grows."

"I know how it feels like, and I'm genuinely sorry for that."

"Do you know what I mean?"

"Yes, I am."

"Do you know for whom I mean?"

"Well said."

"Trust me, this will going to be crazy."

"Jordan, just do your best to protect Kara," I assured. "Let me do the rest of your plan."

He was thinking, unable to say any words while looking at me. A hope shone in his eyes.

Rain opened and slammed the door. A group of friends occupied some space, waiting for him to come.

"How is it going?" Lindsay asked.

"Too damn," he answered. "It will be the biggest problem soon."

"Hindi ka sigurado," sagot ni Jack. Binalingan niya ito ng tingin.

"Anong ibig mong sabihin?" Pasimple siyang lumapit sa mga kaibigan.

"May mas malaki tayong problema," dagdag ni Lindsay. Hindi sumagot si Rain at binalewala lamang ang sinabi ng pinsan niyang babae.

"Megan is pregnant," she continued. "Weren't you worry about it or afraid?"

He mugged. "Afraid of what?"

"You'll become someone's father," Jack moaned. "Bastard."

"Any proof?"

"We have a copy of Megan's DNA," Lin assured. Jack handed an envelope to her, then she passed it to him. Accepting it, he opened. He found the result.

"Match," she laughed evilly.

"Ngayong alam mo na," sabi ni Lex. "Paano mo iyan ipapaliwanag? For Pete's sake, Rain. Ang daming pwedeng masira sa ginawa mo. At alam mo ba ang pupwedeng magbago sa sitwasyon na meron ka ngayon? Paano naman sila? Paano ang mga pinaghirapan mo? Paano kami na pumuprotekta sa'yo? Hindi ka nag-iisip."

"Huwag n'yo itong sabihin kay Ashleigh," sagot ni Rain at inabot kay Lindsay ang envelope. "Ayokong malaman niya ang tungkol dito."

"Naririnig mo ba ang sarili mo?" tanong ni Sky. At sa katagalan ng pag-uusap, ngayon lamang ito kumibo.

"Huwag sabihin?" natatawang pag-uulit nito. "Lolokohin mo ulit ang asawa mo dahil lang sa isang babae at sa kagaguhan mo? Nagpapatawa ka ba?"

Bumaling si Rain sa kaibigan.
