Think of something smart to say, Adrian.

Adrian's inner monologue was firing off a mile a minute as he tried to think of something witty or becoming ( was that the right word? ) of the situation they were currently in. He scoffed quietly as he shortened the letters be from coming. Classic. He shook his head, wincing his eyes as he took a deep breath. No, focus.

Even under normal circumstances he would have an issue staying razor focused for so long, but getting the shit beat out of him by a bunch of alien cock suckers and trying to keep his new acquaintance, wait, Friend? Yeah, friend. Worrying about her safety and getting his face pounded in, had cause him to lose his edge.

Instead, he blurted out the first thing that came to mind.

" Your car is a pig-stye. "

Fucking Smooth. He groaned quietly as he'd spoken before processing what he was going to say. He did that a lot. Adrian knew he needed to recover, maybe make a cute joke? 'Hey, Jenna, why did the father and his triplet daughters request a single room at the Hilton? ' No-no, maybe that's too soon.

He tried his best to stay still in the cramped backseat, kicking away empty coffee cups-and why were there so many cinnamon packets? Who the fuck eats cinnamon out of a fucking packet like a god-damn gremlin? Then, he remembered how she always asked for them at the restaurant when she ordered a cup of coffee. Maybe he could leverage this in some way to his advantage and make her fall for Vigilante the next time they teamed up.

Regardless of the clutter, her car did look lived in, loved even. Her clumsy, unorthodox way about her made him strangely more fond of her. Like she was busy living her life and just went with the flow. He immediately thought of how his home or car compared to hers; relatively clean, bare, and not lived in. His brother had moved out years ago, and both of his parents were dead. He never really redecorated or cared to make it a bachelor pad. So it looked like a time capsule from when he was a child, with a few updated appliances. Jenna's voice broke him out of his trance.

" Rude, especially coming from you, boner patrol. "

Boner patrol? Fuck. Another stupid nickname. Hopefully, she'd never say it in front of Chris or he'd never let him live it down.

Jenna turned a corner when Vigilante's phone went off, a triumphant tune of Barbie Girl filled the quiet air between them, exasperating her already broad smile. She kept her eyes on the road while a snort escaped her as she grinned, peeking a glance at Vigilante through her rear mirror, she watched him fumble to unlock the screen. A demanding voice boomed through the phone's speaker, and the woman on the other end was aggressively screaming at Vigilante about the murder they may or may not have had anything to do with.
