Jungkook<3: Can you come over now?

Sitting in the bus, Nia rested her head against the window, looking at herself overlaid on the houses they passed by. Jungkook's house wasn't far, but not close enough that the girl would walk there.

At first she had been puzzled by the message. The previous day, Jungkook had told her that he was going to hang with his friends today and therefore couldn't go to the beach, as Nia had asked.

But she didn't care asking, they probably cancelled and Nia had nothing else to do on this sunny day.

And why would she not go see her boyfriend?

The message was kind of odd though to the girl. No emojis, no sarcasm, no "Hi, the boys cancelled, I miss you, can you come over?". Only a single question.

Nia had brought her swimwear and a towel, in case that now when he didn't have other plans, he would be up for a ride to the beach.

Since the girl lived in the outskirts of Busan and far from the beach, she hadn't been there since last summer, and July was coming to an end. She had to go to the beach at least one time and her boyfriend's car was a great excuse to get there.

The girl walked up the few steps before the big wooden door and knocked three times.

She clenched the handle of her tote bag from excitement. It was like going on the first date again.

The door opened and an elderly man showed up in the doorframe.

His dad?

She recognized the face as the one she had seen when she first went to Jungkook's home.

Nia hesitated speaking, but swallowed the lump in her throat and bowed politely "Hello, is Jungkook home?"

"He is not home, but come in." Mr. Jeon spoke, stepping aside and motioning for Nia to get inside.

Nia did as he said and confusedly entered the house. Why would Jungkook ask her to come over if he wasn't even home?

"Are you sure he's not-"

"I was the one asking you to come over." Mr. Jeon interrupted, which came off kind of rude to the girl.

"How? Doesn't he have his phone with him?"

"He does, but I'm his dad. I have my ways."

Nia took a deep breath before following the man into his office and sat down on the chair across him.

She tried not to be too judgmental, considering the things Jungkook had told about his father.

But it was a brave try as he was sat on the other side of his desk with a name tag on the desk and in a suit, even though it was weekend, and he was in his own home.

It felt more like attending an important meeting than actually talking to her boyfriend's dad.

"How is Jungkook?"

The question surprised Nia.

"Why don't you ask him yourself?" The girl couldn't help but snarl, but quickly realized it, "I'm sorry, I mean... don't you live with him?" She tried speaking in a more nicer tone, but the question couldn't come out as polite as she had wanted.
