18: BBQ

It was a late, sunny Thursday afternoon. Haejin had invited her friends over while her parents were at work. Her parents both had night shifts tonight and since it was summer, she couldn't resist to host a barbecue with a bit of alcohol. She had set up a picnic in her garden. Foods were placed in the middle of the outdoor table she had standing next to her pool, which hadn't been used for years. A few drinks were gathered on a smaller table next to it. 

Hoseok was there, as well as a two of Haejin's other friends, Nia only knew a little about. Namjoon was there too. The guy from Nia's birthday party. Hoseok's friend. 

"What is he doing here by the way?" Nia leant into Hoseok's ear and whispered. 

Hoseok looked at Nia with a puzzled expression and Nia motioned to Namjoon with her eyes, "Namjoon."

"Oh, Namjoon." Hoseok said almost mockingly.

"Idiot." Nia scoffed.

"Haejin told me to invite him."

Nia looked over at Namjoon and only now figured why Haejin had sat herself besides him. The smile on her best friend's lips was a rare sight. Not just a smile, but a smile big enough to make tiny dimples appear and a red blush paint her cheeks.

Haejin had a crush on Namjoon.

"Oh my god!" Nia exclaimed as she realized.

"What?" Hoseok spoke almost startled.

"Haejin likes someone!" The girl spoke eagerly, but with a  low voice.

Hoseok looked over at his other best friend's.

"She really does, wow, who would've thought." He chuckled.

"When are you getting a girlfriend?" Nia questioned jokingly.

Hoseok's eyes widened and he turned back to look at the girl.

"Well..."

"We're here!" Someone spoke from behind the them.

Nia turned around and saw Taehyung, followed by Jimin and a little behind him, Jungkook.

"Finally!" Haejin spoke.

Hoseok sent Haejin a look, which could cut flesh.

But none of that Nia noticed, as Jungkook went to give her a hug and kiss on the cheek. He sat down besides Nia. His friends, whom she didn't know was invited, immediately took a seat at the other end of the table where Haejin's two girl friends were seated.

A little while after the three boys had arrived, she noticed how Haejin still hadn't gotten back from getting some cold water and that her own seat mate, Hoseok, was also not presence at the table.

The girl looked around the garden as her best friends had disappeared. She spotted them at the back door's entrance to the house, Haejin with a pot of water in her hand. It looked like they were discussing something. It almost looked like they were arguing.

"You invited Jungkook!?" Hoseok spoke through gritted teeth.

"Well yeah, he's Nia's boyfriend. Nia asked if he could come and he's actually a really nice guy if you would give him a chance." Haejin spoke accusatory.

Hoseok let out a mocking chuckle, "I'm sure he is." He rolled his eyes.

"Drop the attitude Hoseok, let's have a great evening okay." Haejin also rolled her eyes, tired of Hoseok's negativity and party pooper mood.

The boy looked away with a sigh, letting his back rest up against the wall of the house.

Haejin took a deep breath, letting her tensed shoulders down, "I'm sorry."
