This chapter is so overdue and I am incredibly sorry.
I'm still trying to get ahold of my schedule and find time for writing.
This is more of a filler chapter, so you can skip if you want. The next chapter is a lot more exciting/interesting.

Third Person
Location: French Mafia's Vacation House, Rhode Island

"Blue?"

"Miss me?"

Ayla doesn't respond at first, too shocked to form words.

"Uh Dove? You still there?"

"I think she's broken," Rio says with a laugh, adding to her shock even more.

"Dove you broken?" Lucky teases.

"Uh...I'm f-fine," Ayla finally forces out. Her heart pounding in excitement. "I should...go...yeah."

She ignores the sounds of her friends snickering at her and Donna smirking at her playfully as she rushes back into the ballroom to find her cousins.

Alessandro glances around the ballroom, looking for an out.

He usually loves these big events. Getting to see his friends and eavesdropping on the various Mafia leaders talking. It's a whole experience.

However, he's not surprised that he's not enjoying the event. Ever since his kidnapping, things he used to enjoy don't give him the same feeling anymore.

He frowns when he sees three girls running out of the children's room with slime in their hair and clothes.

Aren't those the girls Ayla was playing with?

He had peaked into the playroom earlier and saw his baby cousin playing with the girls, which thrilled him. One of his biggest concerns for Ayla is her ability to make friends.

His frown deepens when he sees a dejected looking Ayla exit the playroom. He observes her from a distance, watching as she walks to her friends happily.

Suddenly she stops walking, her demeanour changing completely. She turns around and quickly exits the room.

Were there tears in her eyes?

Hurriedly, he walks over to his aunt and politely pulls her out of her conversation, informing her of what he saw.

As he watches Lucia walk out of the ballroom, he realizes that the Donna also left, seemingly following Ayla.

Alessandro heard the story of when Ayla tortured a man for information about where he was being held. Mateo gave him a very embellished version. It was an impressive story to say the least.

What he doesn't understand, however, is why Donna is so invested in his cousin.

Sure, his cousin is unique, but Donna is still young. Only 25 years old, and she's already planning for an heir.

Her reign only began five years ago. It seems a little odd that she's already preparing her retirement plan.

Slipping to the side of the room, Alessandro waits patiently for his aunt and cousin to return.

By the time Lucia, Ayla, and the Donna return, the wait staffs are already bringing in food for dinner.

Bored of waiting, Alessandro sweeps in and grabs his cousin by the waist and throws her in the air, making her squeal. Once she's safely back in his arms, she clutches his shoulders tightly.
