For those that don't follow me and can't see the announcements on my message board: this is the last filler chapter before drama.
Get ready ;)Dove/Ayla's POV
Age: 10
Location: Ricci's Mansion, New YorkI sigh as I flick my paintbrush over the white piece of paper in front of me.
Alessandro and Mateo stopped by earlier to pick up some of their stuff, and they left a paint kit for me to play with.
It's a lot of fun...but I'm not very good at it.
I frown as I scan the paper that now contains a messy mix of purple, red, orange, yellow, and black.
The paper would've looked better blank.
Pushing myself off the floor, I leave my paint explosion in my room to go look for some towels to clean the slight mess I made.
I remember there's a towel closet under the staircase, so I head there.
As I walk down the hallways, I can't help but miss my brothers slightly. The triplets have to go to school and my eldest three brothers are out on "business."
In Lorenzo's case, that means someone might be dying today.
I love my quiet time, but after getting used to the chaos of my brothers and cousins, I miss their loud yells and the sound of their feet walking throughout the house.
Distracted by my thoughts, I don't realize I'm in front of the closet door until I open it.
My eyes widen in shock when I see Dylan and Kaiah sitting on the floor of the closet with a pile of candy and junk food in their laps.
The three of us eye each other in silence for a few moments. None of us say a word.
Wordlessly, Dylan grabs a small blue candy wrapped in plastic and hands it to me.
I accept it and unwrap it before popping it into my mouth.
Over the past two weeks, my brothers have been slowly introducing me to the various candies they like to eat. I've never had this one before, but I definitely like it.
Seeing that I accepted the peace offering, Kaiah grabs my arm and pulls me into the closet as Dylan closes the door.
An embarrassing squeak escapes me when my butt hits the hard ground.
"What are you doing?" I whisper. It doesn't feel right to talk loudly when you're in a dark closet surrounded by towels.
"Ditching school," Dylan responds.
"In a closet?"
"It's working, isn't it?" Kaiah says as she turns on her phone, providing a light source in the dark room.
The three of us suck in a breath when the floorboards above us creak from the weight of someone walking.
"Ayla? Where are you honey?" My mother calls out as she walks down the stairs.
"I have a feeling it won't be working for very much longer," I whisper to Dylan.
His cheeks are puffed out from whatever candy he just shoved into his mouth, but the panic is clear in his eyes.
The sound of the front door slamming open makes the three of us jump.
"DYLAN YOU ASSHOLE WHERE ARE YOU?" I hear Dante yell.
"Dante! Language!" My mother scolds.
"Dylan and Kaiah are missing from school," Daniel tells our mother.
