A week passed.

But that week felt like years.

Yukina still hasn't contacted my mom and I, but we know that she's staying at her friend's.

Regardless, she should still text us that she's alright. That would remove the pounds of stress Mom is carrying on her shoulders.

I was confident that Yukina's coming home today, though. It's my dad's birthday.

We would usually spend a day together doing things my dad loves as a family to celebrate his birthday. We would suffer watching a baseball game, play card games, and eat pizza together.

Yukina is a bit conceited, but she isn't the type of person who would miss out on celebrating Dad's birthday. I would know; I'm her younger sister.

Mom was still sleeping, so I turned on the TV and munched on a sandwich. "What was the sports channel again?"

I heard the door close. "8."

"Thanks." I changed the channel when suddenly I realized that that wasn't Mom's voice.

I turned my head to face the door.

It was Yukina.

My jaw dropped. "Yukina?"

"Don't be so surprised. You knew I would come back today." She said as she placed her bags near the couch. "I couldn't miss Dad's birthday."

I sighed. "How are you? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, I guess." She shrugged it off. "How's Mom?"

"What do you mean, 'How's Mom?'? She's a wreck thanks to you." I accused. "Why did you do such a thing?"

"I don't know, honestly." Yukina sighed out of disappointment. "I knew Mom was right. When she scolded me, I knew that I had to part ways with him. He was so manipulative; telling me lies, bossing me around. I couldn't even do things that I wanted to do. But for some reason, I felt so angry when she was talking crap about him."

Oh God. How did I not realize Yukina was going through all of this?

"But thankfully, I was able to take time for myself after the breakup, so I feel fine now." She smiled slightly.

"That's gre- "

Wait. Breakup?

"You... you broke up with him?" I widened my eyes.

"Of course I did. I broke up with him the day after my fight with you and Mom."

I sighed out of relief. Thank the heavens.

I get annoyed with her sometimes, but she's an amazing sister. She deserves someone who meets her level.

I hugged her tightly. "I'm so glad."

She rubbed my back. "I'm sorry, Maia. I'm sorry I said those things to you. I didn't mean it; I know that Mom doesn't actually favor you over me."

"She actually does." I joked.

She slapped my back. "I hate you so much."

I laughed out loud. "I love you, too."

Yukina and Mom thankfully made up. It was so touching; right when Mom saw Yukina, her face lit up. And now since Yukina is moving on from her breakup, things will start to get back to normal.

It's a relief.

They're watching the baseball game now. They happen to both be invested in the game today. That rarely happens.
