"You- " Mason choked on his spit. "You like me? Like... like me?"
I furrowed my eyebrows. "What?"
He looked around and eventually pointed to himself. "Me? Who are we talking about here?"
What's with him?
I stuttered. "I- Well- I- yeah, we're talking about you. Who else would I be talking about?"
He paused for a moment until he suddenly made a loud gasp. I widened my eyes at his reaction.
I should take him to a hospital.
"Wait. Are you being serious, or- " He was interrupted by a chime from his phone. He took a glance at it until he met my eyes again.
He gestured me to stay where I'm standing. "Okay, my grandpa probably needs me to get home but don't. Move. I'll be back in just a few seconds."
And he jogged away as he picked up the phone. Just like that.
I-
I mean, that was-
I took a deep breath. Well, then.
I left the park and got in my car, with thoughts whirling in my mind.
Did Mason hit his head?
Is Mason's ankle injury so painful that it got to his mind?
No, that can't be it. His ankle got better. His cast is off now.
I shook my head aggressively and squealed a bit. Did his grandpa actually call him? Was it just a random alarm? Was he trying to escape this awkward position I put him in?
Whatever the circumstance is, at least he knows how I feel. That's all that matters right now.

"Oh, Maia, you have a secret Santa!" Yukina cooed.
I slapped Yukina's arm as I went to the door. Parked on our doorstep, there were three gigantic gift bags each in coordinating Christmas colors.
I carefully brought them inside our house and placed them next to the Christmas tree in the living room. I checked the tags that were on each of the bags.
"'To Maia, To Yukina, To Saeko'," I read as I sat on my knees.
Yukina gulped. "Me? Lord, I must be popular."
I rolled my eyes. "You fool, this person gave a gift to all of us."
Mom crouched down. "But who? Do you two have any idea?"
I pursed my lips. Could it be Mason? But then again, he isn't close to my family; he hasn't even met my mom. I also never told him my address, so it doesn't make sense for him to be able to come here.
And plus, I don't think he would do such thing after what happened yesterday.
Yukina gasped. "No way. Is it from my 3rd ex-boyfriend? I knew he still had feelings for me... I should give him a call." She said as she stood up.
"No." I hollered as I pulled her back down. Yukina shot me a look.
"Let's open them," Mom said.
Yukina dug inside her bag and took out an art supply kit. "Whoa. I don't think I told any of my boyfriends that I wanted to be a cartoon artist."
I smirked as I tossed out the tissue paper and peeked inside the bag. I dropped my jaw as I noticed what was inside.
"Dr. Martens?" I gasped as I held the boots out to show Yukina and Mom. "How did this person know I wanted Dr. Martens?"
