On the bus, I looked out the window to enjoy some sights of Nashville. The scarlet red and the tangerine orange leaves were peacefully falling to the ground, before the soft breeze carried them away.
My phone rang. It was a call from Yukina.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Maia, are you at school? Mrs. Patel said detention would be over at four." I heard her keys jangling in the background.
"Yukina, I'm actually on the bus."
"I thought the buses didn't come by until 4:15."
"It's a long story," I laughed softly. "Anyways, how was the visit to Baba's?"
"Oh, um, funny story actually," she laughed nervously. "She came down with a cold, so we weren't able to see her. Consider yourself lucky, I guess. Mom was about to give you a ten-hour lecture."
I smiled. Ah, yes. Thank you, Baba, for catching a cold! It means a lot!
The bus arrived at a bus stop near my neighborhood. "I'll call you later, Yukina."
I ended the call and exited the bus. I breathed in the fresh autumn air; it felt relaxing.
I quickly arrived back home, and I threw my backpack on the couch, crashing down beside it.
"I'm home," I announced.
The first person who welcomed me was my dear mother.
"Maia Ito Hart," She said firmly. "Do you have something to tell me?"
I cleared my throat. "I'm sorry I got a detention, Mom. I promise you it won't happen again."
It's definitely going to happen again.
She simply sighed and handed me a list. "You're grounded. You're doing chores this weekend, and I will be confiscating your phone. You won't be going to any parties. The only thing you're doing other than chores is homework. Am I clear?"
"Yes." I frowned.
After she walked away, I went to my room and threw myself onto the bed. I was excited for this weekend. Totally.

It was another Monday, and somehow, I was genuinely excited to go to school. Maybe it's because I won't have to clean the toilet for the seventh time.
I wasn't able to see the sunrise because I accidentally slept past my alarm. But as long as Mason doesn't sit in my seat, I could possibly still have the satisfaction of watching a big ball of fire make its way towards the sky.
I left my house and quickly got in my car–I had missed a ride from Yukina today. I will not let that pest get to class before I do.
Within 4 minutes, I arrived at school–I might have sped a bit, but what anyone doesnt know wont hurt them, and I had missed the elderly lady. But I don't think I had ever driven so fast to school in my life. Especially on a Monday.
I practically ran towards the theater arts class... and I let out a big sigh of relief.
That pest isn't in class yet... I hope he doesn't come for the rest of the day.
Or ever.
I proudly walked over to my seat and stretched my arms as I sat down. I stared at the sky for a good 5 minutes and smiled to myself.
Ah, how peaceful. Nothing can ruin this mo-
"Get out."
I turned my head to face the owner of the voice.
