I practically zoomed past cars on the road and arrived at the school within 3 minutes. I parked my car near the tennis courts, and saw Mason lying on one of them.

He couldn't have fainted. There's no way.

I ran towards him and crouched down to gently cup my hands on his face.

"Mason. Mason, wake up!" I said breathlessly.

He jolted himself awake, and I let out a big sigh of relief.

"Oh my God," I clutched my chest to control my breathing. "What happened, Mason? You wouldn't respond to me!"

He yawned. "Sorry. I fell asleep for a second. I only got 4 hours of sleep last night."

My jaw dropped.

He was sleeping. He didn't faint.

This. Absolute. Pest.

I want to slap him so badly.

"What the hell, Mason!" I shouted. "Do you know how worried I was when you wouldn't answer? I thought you passed out!"

He tried to sit up, so I assisted him by holding his back. He let out a pained scream as he positioned himself.

"Mason, what's wrong?" I carefully laid his head back.

"My ankle..." he said exasperatedly. "I don't think it's broken, but..."

"Can you walk?"

"Oh, I don't know, Maia. I can't even sit up straight without my ankle killing me, but if it's walking, I can do that no problem!" He smiled.

"Do you think now's the time for jokes?" I took a deep breath. "Okay, I'm going to call my sister. She'll drive us."

"What's the plan?"

"She'll take the bus here while I try to carry you to my car. Then she'll drive us to a nearby urgent care center using my car." I said as I texted Yukina. "She'll be here soon. Get on my back."

Mason burst out laughing. I glared at him.

"Oh my God! You're an idiot, Maia. How could someone like you carry me? Is that even possible?" Mason chuckled.

I slapped his arm. "Get on my back. Let's find out."

-

It's been 5 minutes, and we're halfway there.

Kind of.

Not really.

Mason is holding onto me for dear life, while I have beads of sweat rolling down my face.

So this isn't beneficial to either of us.

"Maia, I hope you know that you're making my pain 100 times worse." He remarked.

I sighed. "Hold on! We're almost there."

He scoffed. "Oh, of course! 10 centimeters towards our destination! What a journey!"

"You're really testing my patience here, Mason. I'll abandon you if you don't shut up." I huffed. "Also... why did you stay here until 7?"

"I just wanted to improve my skills outside of practice. And I got carried away and... erm..." He coughed into my hair. "Long story. Come back in a couple years."

What possibly could've been happening that it would be such a long story?

I was out of breath within each step I took. I suddenly saw someone running towards us with a flashlight in their hand.
