It had been many years since you had seen your childhood best friend Kate, she left to pursue acting while you stayed behind becoming a writer but after publishing two books you decided to do something else like becoming a singer.

Both of your careers were going great although you didn't see each other you still kept in contact she has three children one girl and two boys and even welcomed a granddaughter as for yourself you had gotten married and then divorced even having two girls of your own.

When you were on a walk with your youngest you had spotted her in the park admiring the view as you walked towards her you couldn't help but smile "Kate is that you?" holding your daughter's hand "Y/n?'' Kate double-checked.

"Hi" you giggled as she crushed you in a hug "how are you?" she questioned keeping you at arms-length "I'm good, how are you?" breaking apart "the same and who's this cutie?" she bent down to your daughter's size who was currently hiding behind you. "go on" you pushed lightly "I'm Katie" she whispered hiding in your dress "well hello Katie, I'm Kate" she greeted energetically "really?" your daughter gasped letting go of you "mama we have the same name" she gushed "really dear that's so cool" sitting beside Kate pulling Katie with you.

After a moment of sitting in a peaceful silence your daughter started to wriggle around out of boredom "you can go play if you want dear" you let her go.

"So how are you actually?" Kate turned to you "what do you?" your throat tightened "oh cut the shit Y/n, I know when somethings up with you now spill" Kate argued "I'm scared and I'm lonely there" you huffed slouching into the bench. "Why are you scared?" placing a gentle hand on your knee "I'm scared that I'm failing everyone and I'm scared I'll lose you" tears slid quickly down your pale face "okay... but you know that's not true right?" looking deep into your eyes "how do you k-know?" letting that hiccup out "because Katie looks like you hung the stars and I never plan on leaving you even in the darkest of times" she admitted bringing her hand further up your leg to squeeze your thigh.

"Thank you" wiping your tears "no problem dear" she pulled you into her chest kissing your head as you watched your daughter play "what about a visit like old times?" looking up at her "I'd love that" she smiled lowering her head to meet mine. Closing my eyes parting my lips when suddenly a "mom" was called out pulling away from Kate you sat up "yes dear?" fixing your clothes "can we go home now?" scratching your forehead you looked at Kate sighing you handed her a piece of paper "come for dinner tonight" capturing her lips in a chaste kiss before walking away with your daughter.
