Warnings: Angst, fluff, mentions of a miscarriage, death
Lindsey Buckingham

"If I had it my way you'd always stay" Lindsey brokenly whispered staring down at the grave beneath him.

"Never ever talk to me again for five minutes" Lindsey's twin sister held out four fingers as they argued as three-year-olds do but that only made Lindsey cry "but you're my sister that's forever'' he sobbed making her feel guilty. "Alright how about we be friends again?" Y/n quietly asked swaying softly "please" Lindsey begged.

"Maybe I'll see you in another life if this one wasn't enough" Lindsey spoke to his seven-year-old twin as he swung upside down from the tree Y/n looked up from her book. "Hopefully Linds but how cool would it be if we're twins again" Y/n gushed now climbing the tree "careful Y/n you don't fall" Lindsey protectively warned.

Eight-year-olds Y/n and Lindsey were riding their bikes chatting away when Y/n bumped into a rock falling off hers scraping her knee Lindsey rushed to her rescue. "You'll be fine Y/n I'll make it all better" he kissed her wound helping her back up bringing her into a bear hug making the girl laugh waterly.

The twins now aged ten danced around the family reunion ignoring almost everyone their attention based solely on one another definitely the closest two in the entire family. "Heard Aunt Carols pregnant again" Y/n gossiped "really?" Lindsey gasped handing her a biscuit "really heard mom say it" the girl admitted.

Y/n had snuck out of her room and straight into Lindsey's just a routine they've always had Lindsey sat playing his guitar softly "Y'know you're gonna be famous one-day Linds and you'll forget about little old me" Y/n sighed flopping onto her brother's bed. "Doubt it Y/n, have you heard your voice and the moment I forget about you is the moment I shoot myself" the twelve-year-old exasperated honestly "you're my best friend" Y/n smiled "and you're mine" Lindsey smiled back.

Y/n sat crying in a tree situated in the back yard her boyfriend had broken up with her earlier that day ditching her for her best friend Lindsey had spotted his sister from his room. Climbing the tree he sat beside her wrapping an arm around her "boys suck I should know" the thirteen-year-old joked making y/n tearily chuckle.

"Where is the idiot anyway?" Y/n asked impatiently tapping her foot "I'm right here" Lindsey called out making Y/n smile "surprisingly enough, I'm not talking about you this time" Y/n laughed as Lindsey began to tickle her. The fourteen-year-olds still tended to act four not that anyone complained it was rather sweet to see.

"Mom says if you blow up the house she's going to put you up for adoption" Y/n walked into fifteen-year-old Lindsey's room as he performed some dodgy science experiment. "pff like she'd ever find out" Lindsey deflected "she will if the house blows up idiot" Y/n pointed rolling her eyes.

"He's adopted" Y/n blurted to Stevie earning a smack in the back of her head groaning she glared at Lindsey "am not" he argued "are too" Y/n quipped back. Stevie tried not to laugh "arent you both seventeen?" she asked "and?" the twins questioned together Stephanie only smiled adoringly watching the twins squabble.

Y/n had been given the chance to sing and of course, she needed both Lindsey and her newfound friend/sister Stevie as they cheered her from the surprisingly large crowd. Lydia a song she had written about one of her latest boyfriends that had cheated on her once the song had finished Lindsey rushed on stage taking the nineteen-year-old in his arms. Praising her to the gods "Y/n you were born to make history" he kissed her cheek repetitively before Stevie pulled him away wanting to congratulate her sister figure.

Y/n placed her chin on her brother's shoulder "you love her don't you?" she mumbled looking at the blonde woman twirling around the room joyfully ''was it that obvious?" Lindsey asked her back "don't know maybe it's a twin thing" Y/n shrugged. Twenty and still a hopeless romantic but Y/n was surprisingly right.

"I'm in love" Y/n dreamingly smiled entering her brother's home and giving Stevie a soft kiss on her cheek before walking right towards her other half "really? and was this man forced?" Lindsey joked. "Very funny" Y/n snickered twacking him "and no he isn't twat he loves me very much I'll have you know" twenty-two and still acting like children Stepanie rolled her eyes shaking her head at the sibling's antics.

Halfway across the world, they were different Lindsey and Stevie having joined Fleetwood mac and you continuing with your solo career. Y/n was now married with a little girl of her own, playing with a picture of two kids in a tree she picked up the phone allowing it to ring softly "I miss you" the twenty-five-year-old cried never being too far from her brother but there was silence.

Twenty-six she stood on stage with a piercing smile as she greeted her adoring fans with a hand covering her small pregnancy bump wishing Lindsey were near. He had seen her she looked perfect as he stood far back in the crowd watching tearily as she brought the mic to her lips "this is dedicated to my twin who I wish was here..he's not dead just busy" she nodded almost convincing herself it was the truth.

Life seemed to crumble he and Stevie split his family practically ignoring him and he was all to blame he knew that at the family reunion Y/n's lack of presence concerned him. "Where's Y/n?" he asked his older brother "now you care" Greg scoffed what's that meant to mean?.

Now twenty-eight and still no contact he didn't blame Y/n she tried more than enough four years almost had passed Y/n had suffered a miscarriage two years ago sending her into a depression that was almost unsavable. Lindsey's heart pounded as he dialled her number "hello?" Y/n croaked weakly through the phone shattering his heart into a million.

Two years had passed Lindsey nursing
Y/n back into herself her daughter was now eight years old "Y'know you get your good looks from me" Lindsey told Paige his niece. "Don't listen to him, love you get it from mommy and aunty Steph" Y/n blew a raspberry at her twin kissing Paige's cheek.

Another two years had quickly passed Y/n thirty-two just had twins in the year 1981 a boy and a girl miniature version of the senior Buckingham twins Rhiannon Rutheda and Lindsey Morris Buckingham. "They're so tiny" Lindsey squealed excitedly picking up the girl the whole of Fleetwood had joined "the one youre holding Rhiannon and the boy is Lindsey" Y/n smiled tiredly.

Thirty-six had come frighteningly fast the kids growing fast the twins possibly even hyper versions of the seniors keeping everyone on their feet. Y/n sat on the doorstep cigarette in hand sighing softly toying around with her fingers her "perfect" relationship beginning to crumble "those are bad for you-" Y/n cut him off "are you a doctor?" she mused "as I was saying they're only bad if you don't share" he nudged her smiling softly. "Y'know you never shot yourself" Y/n spoke lightly "because I never forgot about you" Lindsey admitted "I was far in the crowd that day you said I wasn't dead just busy".

Lindsey stroked her tear-stained cheek. Her eyes met his, and he tried his hardest to remember them, because he knew after that day, he'd never see her again. Only forty and her life slowly slipped from her Stevie sat beside her grasping tightly to her hand fighting the urge to break down Lindsey laid beside her Y/n's children and sat on the bed crying at the sight of their normally strong mother. 1989 Y/n Buckingham had passed leaving behind her eighteen-year-old and eight-year-old twins.

Stevie had taken Y/n's children into shared custody with Lindsey it's what Y/n would've wanted, her memory lives on.

"My sister.. she was perfect annoying sometimes but perfection head to toe" Lindsey commented in an interview smiling as he pictured her standing right beside him her small hand in his.

"I have so much of you in my heart, I think of you constantly" Lindsey admitted "those kids of yours" he shook his head jokingly "they're all grown up now even children of their own imagine nana Y/n" Lindsey laughed sadly. "You would've been an amazing nana" he commented Stevie came behind placing an understanding hand on his shoulder as they both shattered together. He was almost 73 without you all the life you missed out on stung everyone you weren't the only Buckingham sibling to pass either yours just hurt the most.

You really did make history.
