Nobody had seen Bruce Wayne after the Joker attacked last night, which Wanda found suspicious. Bruce disappears and then the Batman shows up. There was no way for the vigilante to know what was going on in the penthouse as it hadn't made the news yet and no one called the police until after the thugs were gone. Of course though, it may have just been a coincidence and whilst in her previous line of work things were never simply coincidental, Wanda decided to brush it aside as she didn't want to get involved with the man. Except, she was started to wonder if that would be difficult as the man stood at the shared flat's door asking if Rachel was around.
"Bruce Wayne right?" Wanda tried to create a casual atmosphere.
"Yep, and you're Natalie Stark?" Bruce answered back with a friendly smile.
"Yeah...um Rachel isn't here right now. She's with Harvey, either at work or on a date. I never know with those two." Wanda gave him a smile back.
"Oh okay well when she gets back, could you tell her I stopped by and to call me. I really need to talk to her."
"Sure thing, have a nice day." She waved at the man as he left.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Rachel finally got back, Wanda told her about Bruce's visit making the woman go into her bedroom to make the call.
Wanda could hear the muffled voice of her friend, but tried to block it out as she paid attention the news reporting on a trial that took place involving a Mr Lau who spoke out on the mafia within the corrupt city.
Wanda perked up when she heard the door to Rachel's bedroom open.
"Everything alright?" She called out.
"Yeah, he just wanted to apologise for last night, but I told him it wasn't his fault." Rachel replied as she went to join Wanda on the sofa.
"By the way, they got back to me this morning whilst you were out..."
"Who...? OH! DID YOU GET IT?!" Rachel yelled with excitement and anticipation as she realised Wanda was talking about the position at Arkham Asylum she applied for.
"Yep. They said they loved me." Which Wanda felt slightly guilty over considering she wasn't actually qualified for the job.
"When do you start?" Rachel inquired, nudging her friend's arm with a playful grin.
"I'm going in tomorrow to get a tour and a debrief on what's expected. Then the following day I'll start the job."
"I'm so proud of you. Really I am. When we first met, you were so lost, so alone. It's great to see how far you've come. Boosts my ego just a tiny bit." Rachel laughed as the pair hugged each other.
"Drinks?" Rachel then offered. Wanda nodded.
"Okay, let's head out. It'll be on me, to celebrate your new job. Let me just make a quick call and I'll meet you outside to get a taxi." Rachel slyly grinned as when Wanda picked up a jacket and left, she dialed the number to her good old friend, Bruce Wayne. Rachel may have found her man, but Bruce hadn't found his woman, so the attorney thought she could do a little matchmaking.
"Hey, me again. Do you wanna meet up downtown?"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"To your new job!" Rachel made a toast, clinking her glass with Wanda's and Bruce's. Whilst Rachel seemed to be enjoying herself, the other two were puzzled as to why their good friend made them all hang out. Bruce and Wanda had only met for the first time at the party and barely spoke to one another. To then jump to hanging in a bar was strange to say the least. But it did prove to pair how much Rachel cared for them as friends as why else would she do this? Both thought, completely unaware of her ulterior motive.
"Guys, I'm so sorry, I have an early start tomorrow. I have to leave BUT you two should totally stay. Get to know each other better. You're both my best friends so it would be great if you got along too. For me?" Rachel adorned her puppy eyes to tempt them into falling for her trap. When she got the approval from both of them, she let out a huge grin and pulled them in for a group hug before paying her tab and leaving. She just had to tell Harvey about her plan.
This left Bruce and Wanda alone together.
"So...you got a job at Arkham?" Bruce attempted small talk.
"Yeah, I'm gonna start this week."
"Best of luck and congratulations..." Bruce awkwardly said causing Wanda to let out a chuckle.
"Let loose Bruce. If we aren't friends by the end of the night, Rachel will have our heads." Bruce laughed as Wanda held a lazy grin.
"Now that, is true." Bruce took a swing from his drink.
"Natalie, you should be careful at Arkham. You may not have heard of this, but before you came to Gotham, the Asylum was at the centre of...a drug operation of sorts. Due to one of their psychiatrists." Bruce warned the lady.
"Thanks for the advice. When I see any drugs, I'll be sure to call the police." She winked at him.
"I'm serious. It led to a lot of problems. Rachel was affected." As soon as he said that, Wanda became serious.
"What happened?"
"Rachel's stubbornness put her in danger. She was determined that the psychiatrist, Dr Jonathan Crane, was helping the mob, so she went straight to him. Only to get drugged. Batman saved her." Wanda slowly nodded in response to this new information. Again, she thought to herself, how would he have known where Rachel was? However instead of voicing her suspicions, Wanda simply changed the topic, moving the conversation to Bruce."Okay well I don't think Rachel would appreciate us talking about her without her knowing, so what about you? What's your job?"
"Oh well, I don't mean to boast, but I own Wayne Enterprises. You've most likely seen the tower in the middle of the city." Bruce sheepishly answered her. Wanda's eyes bulged.
"You know, I really never put two and two together there. I guess I didn't think I would meet another billionaire." Wanda accidentally said the last bit out loud, causing confusion to paint Bruce's face.
"What was that?" He questioned.
"Oh, nothing. Just rambling. Um, well where do you live then? I hardly imagine you sleep in Wayne Tower." She attempted to move past her blunder, but unfortunately this was noticed by Bruce as he made a mental note to look into the woman in front of him. Something wasn't right."You're right, I don't live in Wayne Tower but rather Wayne Manor...."

When Rachel finally heard the front door open and shut at 1am in the morning, she knew her mission was a success. Even if they weren't interested in each other yet, they definitely had to be friends and she would gladly try to make it more. The woman smiled to herself as she finally went to sleep, not aware of the red glow leaking into her room.
