Something was touching her, disturbing her peaceful sleep, but Wanda couldn't figure out what. She had to focus. Hone in to her surroundings. Exit her slumber, even if she didn't want to. She remembered what she did. How stupid she was. She was already weak, yet she used her powers causing her to faint from exhaustion due to overextertion. When she woke up, Wanda knew she would be dealing with a PR nightmare as Tony called them. Everyone would know about her abilities and maybe they were even caught on camera, immortalising them. So much for remaining normal.

Of course she couldn't have a simple life. Her powers were a curse. She can't escape it. She would have a taste of happiness and normalcy, but then in snap, that would be taken from her. All Wanda wanted was to have a life where her abilities didn't control her, where they could take a backseat and she could be loved for who she was and not because of the power she held. But now that wouldn't be possible. Now, the government would hint her down, either to kill her, experiment on her or recruit her to become an assassin like the Winter Soldier. She didn't want to become like him, stuck in hell. So Wanda would fight. Fight for acceptance. Fight for independence. Fight for a life.

But she was getting ahead of herself.

Right now, she had to wake up and stop whatever it was that was irritating her skin.

"...he...hey...witc...hey witchy...wakey wakey!"
It was the Joker's voice, Wanda realised. And it was his hand that was slapping her cheek harshly, waking her up to find her vision was incredibly blurry. She could only see the faint outline of his body as he appeared as smudges of purple, green and white. His signature colours.

She heard him clap his hands as he noticed her stirring.
"Finally! You and me have a lot to talk about. Although I guess more me since you may have trouble getting a word out." The Joker squatted down to hold contact with her hazy eyes, a wide grin imprinting on his face.
"We'll have a lot of fun...you and me." He clapped his hands again and jumped up.

Wanda had slipped in and out of consciousness. Her body was so weak and the drugs the Joker was forcefully feeding her, didn't help. It was reminding her too much of her time in HYDRA. However, this time she forced herself to stay awake as she noticed the criminal was prepping for something.

A mobile phone in hand, the Joker gets ready to recite a speech to whoever is on the other side as he pulled some paper out, however the two caught each others' eye in the reflective window, causing the Joker to smile at the drugged Wanda who was struggling to keep her eyes open.

"Tonight, you're all gonna be a part of a social experiment." He began to speak into the phone.
"Through the magic of diesel fuel and ammonium nitrate...I'm ready right now to blow you all sky-high." Wanda made a noise as she heard this, making the Joker look over his shoulder at her, but after seeing her still tied up, he turned back.
"If anyone attempts to get off their boat, you all die. Each of you has a remote to blow up the other boat. At midnight, I blow you all up. If, however, one of you presses the button, I'll let that boat live. So, who's it gonna be? Harvey Dent's most-wanted scumbag collection or the sweet and innocent civilians? You choose. Oh, and you might wanna decide quick because the people on the other boat may not be quite so noble." The Joker hung up the phone and threw it aside as he then approached Wanda.

Pulling up a chair, the man sat down, coming face to face with the witch.

"So, what do you think of my little experiment?" The Joker grinned from ear to ear.
"I...thk...sit." Her words came out slurred. She shifted in her seat, trying to untie her arms from behind her back but failing.
"Well, you may think it's bad, but I think it's brilliant! The people of Gotham will finally show themselves. Truly evil and corrupt people in heart. And after this, I'll get to watch the world burn." The Joker chuckled.
"You...won't...get...away...with...this." Wanda had to take long pauses to get the sentence out.

"But that's why I've got you here. Your power, is not of this world. I mean, I have no doubt that if you were able, you could kill me right here and now." Wanda tried to glare at him, but her eyes soon hurt.
"Besides...I'm sure you wanna know what happened to your friend...Rachel?" At the mention of Dawes, Wanda lashed out, but her bindings kept her attached to the chair.

The Joker jumped back, wagging his finger in front of the desperate woman.
"Patience darling. How about we watch the boats. See the people tear each other down." He said with a grin as he had a TV brought in by one of his thugs.

He turned the screen on. It was split in two, one half had the prisoners' boat and the other, the citizens'. Both were arguing with the captains of their ships on what to do.

"Ya see, it is humanity's inherent nature to survive. If told that one will die, they will kill the other because they are too dense to look for an alternative." The man threw a grin back at Wanda.
"Yep, that's right little witch. Both ferries will be blasted high to the sky, but if they simply looked around and worked together, they would be able to prevent their imminent demise. This is my social experiment!" He bowed in front of her as if she would applause in her response.

"You...suck..."
"Well, that isn't very nice missy." The Joker walked towards her.
"Rachel lives. You saved her, unfortunately. So now, I don't have a vengeful Harvey hunting the streets. And you're going to make up for that."
He unsheathed his knife from his pocket and brought it up to Wanda's face.
"Should I leave a smile on your face too?" He started to drag the knife across her skin, a deep red pouring out as it marked her skin. Wanda winced as his actions left a sting.
"Now you're truly beautiful. Look like my wife AHAHAHA!" The Joker seemed to find this funny.

When Wanda looked down, she saw blood flooding her clothes, and her mouth could only taste the metal tinge of the ruby substance. She had to get out, but whatever he was putting in her, was messing her up.
She silently hoped that Batman was coming, although she knew he would since there was no way he wouldn't with the ferries about to implode.

The clock said it was 15 minutes to midnight. And that was when the spell was over.

And that was when the spell was over
