BLOODLINES

THE DAZZLING NIGHT

The giant snake started slithering towards us. My breath hitched as the metallic devil flicked it's tounge.
Suddenly, it froze on it's path like it was shut off.
A smile took over our faces as the right corner of the room started making a clitter-clatter noise. Our eyes raised in union towards the origin of the noise as a shrill scream left our mouths.

There were metallic spiders, of all sizes.
Several robitic spiders started coming towards us as the snake came back to life
'Wasn't the snake enough!!!!' I thought

Without any discussion, Jessica, Madison and Maison went towards the snake as Ronan and Aiden went to the spiders which kept increasing in number.

Madison and Maison together were fighting the snake using their super strength. They were punching it pretty hard on the rear back as Jessica was attacking it's front by shooting several spells.

The spiders started swamping. I brushed off some of them from my orange shirt still unaware of what I was supposed do.
All I could do was watch the others struggle.

Madison was struck by the enormous tail of the snake as she went back flying. Maison boiled with anger on seeing it and screamed, punching the snake with all power he could muster. That was probably the first attack of all that hampered the robot.
A crack developed at that spot but still, it was functioning well. Viciousness could be seen in it's beady eyes. Madison regained posture as they continued hurting the snake.

On the other hand, Aiden was shooting spells at the spiders just like Jessica while Ronan was creating several spears in air to throw at them. They were fighting the spiders on one side as the spiders from other side started climbing them. One of them even bit Aiden as he groaned with pain.
Ronan looked towards him and lost his concentration causing the spiders to swamp over him. One of them bit him too and he fell on his knees as the huge cluster of spiders started covering his body, like a venom taking over. He kept screaming for help.
My blood boiled on seeing him in that state. The anger took over me once again and my hands heated up. I could feel the energy in my hands.
I raised my hand in the direction of the spider swamp and managed to shout "duck" at the right time making Aiden bend down.
The streak of fire came out and burnt all the spiders above and around Ronan. There were hardly any of them left which were killed by Aiden.
The spider problem was over and our eyes went towards the snake situation.

It laid there lifeless surrounded by a bleeding Madison held up by Maison and an exhausted Jessica.

"We did it!" Screamed Aiden.

Then, the other gate flew open as the Team Talon members came into view. They saw us and started running towards the trophy when a similar snake appeared in front of them.

We all laughed and went to grab the trophy
"have fun with that..." giggled Jessica looking towards the snake.

"Together" said Ronan as we all surrounded the trophy and on his count, picked it up together. The ceiling opened up as we heard the immense cheering of the crowd. A huge grin appeared on our faces as the Team Talon stood there disappointed.
"How could we miss the arrow colours!!" Whined Thea.

We moved out of the bushy maze discussing how fun it was. Many people kept praising me for my last moment save. Madison and Ronan went to the hospital for their minor injuries and the doctor said that they'll be fine by tonight before the dazzling nights.

I wanted ask what it was but seemed pretty stupid so, I decided to ask about it from Aiden or Ronan later.

I couldn't see either of them till evening, that time Aiden came to my room and I asked him.
"What's this dazzling night?"

"Oh shoot! I forgot to tell you. It's basically a dance party on every half-yearly festival night....What do you homos call it..umm...Ball or something" he said
"A BALL??" I asked in surprise.
"This means you need partners and... and....yeah a dress....A DRESS!! I have nothing. Why didn't you tell me!?" I asked tensing up.
"Well calm down Sam!! You can get a dress from Jessica, I'll talk to her and about the partner...umm... would you like to go with me?" Asked Aiden with curious eyes.

I really didn't wanted to reject his offer but I was looking forward to Ronan asking me. I think he wouldn't, but there is not harm in waiting.
"I'll tell you after I get a dress" I said as I moved out.
"Okay" he responded.

I went to Jessica and she welcomed me happily. I told her about my problem and she presented around five dresses in front of me
"All yours" she said spreading them.
They were all pretty heavy gowns. One of them caught my eyes, a red gown with a beautiful top and a fluffed up bottom. It looked stunning. My eyes glittered on seeing it
"It'll look good on you" said Jessica.
"Thank you so much Jessica, you're a life saver" I said picking up the gown.
It was fitting perfectly and no doubt I looked good. It went well with my red eyes.
I was happy and getting ready with Jessica when suddenly the word 'partner' came to my mind.
Ronan didn't ask me and it's almost time for us to leave.
I didn't reply Aiden so, probably he asked someone else.
'I'm going to be alone.'

I anyways went to the ball beacuse I made all the arrangements and there didn't seem to be any other option.

As I went there, the beautiful decorations left me in awe. These Bifurs never disappoint me.
The huge hall was heavenly decorated and everyone was wearing different sparkly dresses.

I looked around as I saw Ronan. He looked extremely good in his all black tux. I started approaching him as, Thea came from behind, she hugged him and they both went hand in hand inside the hall. 'So, she is his partner' I thought bubbling up with jealousy. I frowned at the thought. I had no idea why I was feeling that way, but it wasn't good.
I started moving out of the hall as I met Aiden in between. He could sense my anger.

"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Nothing" I lied.
"You look gorgeous Sam, and now you have dress soo.....?" He said holding up his hand for me.
I took it with a smile. He didn't ask anyone else.
"You look good too" I replied.

Aiden took me back to the centre of the hall. We were sitting and looking around. I saw Ronan again, sitting with Thea and glaring Aiden angrily who was holding my hand.
I rolled my eyes at him and looked away.
"Would you like to dance?" Asked Aiden
"I really dont know how t-" I was cut out by Aiden who pulled me up dragged and me towards the dance floor.

The music took over me and I started dancing with Aiden. I was happy.
All Ronan and Thea thoughts went out of my mind. We danced and laughed for about an hour when I finally looked around and saw Ronan again. Thea was dancing with him and they were both laughing. The anxiety came over again.

"I'll go get some air" I told Aiden who was busy dancing. He nodded and I went out.
I looked up at the stars holding the railing as someone appeared behind me. I turned around to see Ronan.
"Hi" he said awkwardly
"Hey" I replied with a slight smile.

"You and Thea look really good together" I said after a minute of awkward silence.
"Oh!...umm Thanks. She's my sister" he said
"YOUR WHAT...?????" I asked in total surprise.
"Sister....you didn't know that!? I had go with her today beacuse I promised her a dance" he explained.
"Wooahhh....I thought..." I said laughing at my stupid assumption
"No no no...she's my sister" he answered.

I was smiling like an idiot. A weight lifted from my heart and I felt relieved.
I stared the stars with a smile.

"You know....I would've asked you if I hadn't made that dumb promise." He said with a smile. "But maybe you were more interested in Lannister" he added with a sign of anger.

"What!! Why would you ask me??.... I mean look at you...a perfect gentleman and the dream guy of most of the beautiful girls and me, I am.....I am just an average looking weirdo." I said

"No!!! Sam, you are perfect. You're strong, intelligent and smart. That's what actually matters to me..... Don't underestimate yourself and.....did I forget to mention, you look absolutely lovely in this dress." He replied

I most definitely blushed at those words but it was still unbelievable. I kept staring him as his eyes flicked to my lips. I nodded giving him a consent and he leaned in. I tip-toed to reach his level and we kissed.
It was literally the best feeling in the world.....
