Many Years Ago...
The days throughout the Sun kingdom were bright and full of joyous children as they would run around playing games with one another. Princess Krya was fifteen years old, with long blonde golden hair that she kept in one braid that ran down her back. Her bright yellow eyes, the same as those of the Sun ancestors. Krya walked down the long hallway where the portraits of the past Queens were hung, with excitement she ran down the stairs thinking about how one day there would be a painted portrait of her, hung in the castle.
"Mother, when will my portrait be hung?" She asked as she sat down at the long dining room table across from her mother and father for breakfast.
"You will have to wait until you become the queen." Her mother had short blonde hair and always wore a silk yellow or orange dress on casual days, "Your time will come soon, my dear."
Krya straightened herself up as she was sitting in the chair, "Why are we the sun kingdom mother? Do we really have any relation with the sun that sits so bright in the sky?"
"Why yes" The queen started to tell the story of how the Sun Kingdom came to be as Krya sat their patiently listening to each word she said, "A long time ago, the earth laid in darkness with no moon nor sun. Nothing to rise in the daytime and nothing to rise at night. But one day, a beautiful girl was born. Her name, Sun and she was different than the others, for her skin shinned bright and her eyes were yellow as can be. Wherever Sun went, the people followed and one day Sun created the Sun Kingdom for all her people. Her powers were never seen before, for she would stand outside the tall castle and shine down on all the villagers of the town, creating a light in the dark earth they lived on. Sun soon had a family, and was known as the Queen of the Sun Kingdom. But things all changed when Sun was approached by a person by the name of, Moon. This person traveled far and wide to search for Sun, for the prophecy they held with them would change the world they lived in for eternity. When Moon came forth to Sun, the words Moon spoke before her were, 'We must sacrifice ourselves, for you will become a bright light that shines down on the earth's people when they are awake and be known as the Sun and as for I, I will become the Moon, who will reflect off of your light every night when I appear in the dark sky when all are asleep.' Queen Sun was infatuated with this person that stood before her. So infatuated that she fell in love with them. A love that would not be seen as pure to the people. A love they kept secret. And the day that these two become what we know now as the sun and the moon, the prophecy changed. For one day the Moon and Sun's souls will be replaced by two new people, one of the moon ancestors and one of the sun ancestors so that Queen Sun and Moon can finally be at rest, and be able to love, once again."
"Anyone can replace them?" Krya curiously asked.
"The prophecy states that a forbidden love between someone of the moon ancestors and sun ancestors will be powerful enough to set Sun and Moon free, taking their place."
"Mother, you are telling me lies" Krya sat up from the dining room table, "What a silly tale, I will never tell my children such a story. You are quite funny mother. I will be going out in the town today."
"Make sure to wear the golden veil I had made for you! Do not go prancing around that you are Princess Krya!"
Krya waved her hand at her mother, already knowing she was going to tell her this. Krya wore what she usually wore when going out in town and what the children of the village would wear. A sage shirt and a long dark mustard yellow dress along with the golden veil her mother made her wear. That day, Krya rode her horse, further than she normally did, making her way out of the village. Distracted from day dreaming, Krya soon realized she was near the forest that was rumored to be haunted. But before she went back, Krya saw a small wooden house that looked to be right outside the woods. Curious, the princess walked up and knocked on the door of this small house. The door opened and standing before her was a girl who appeared to be around the same age as Krya, with long dark black hair that reminded the princess of the dusk sky and sapphire eyes that looked just like the moon.
