Alexa sat alongside Nora, the talent acquisition specialist for the fifth interview this week and it was only Wednesday. After two years of consistency, hard work, many sleepless nights and a handful of obstacles the company Alexa had built from the ground up was finally growing.

The journey certainly wasn't the easiest and there were times where she had thought about throwing in the towel so this period was significant and extremely special to her. Had she not persevered, she wouldn't have been able to experience this moment of pure bliss. Albeit small, it was an accomplishment nonetheless.

The year prior to starting her publishing company, it mostly consisted of an overwhelming amount of planning, preparation and a ridiculous amount of rejection emails from different organisations whose goal was to supposedly help start up businesses.

Alexa used the word supposedly because they were anything but helpful.

After one whole year of plotting and planning to ensure the start of her business was a success - she was finally able to launch her publishing company called Publicar.

The first year was by far the worst for her, the woman endured multiple losses and had to do most of the work all by herself. If she was the type of woman who displayed emotion easily, she would have probably shed a tear or two.

In the second year, those losses slowly morphed into wins.

She was able to hire her first intake of five professional individuals to assist her with the most important aspects of the company. Then five turned to ten and the numbers slowly increased thereafter.

Yes the woman may have had a long way to go considering her being the chief executive officer of her own company at the tender age of twenty five but this position she was in was still a male dominant role. So her sole purpose was to break that strong metal chain and rise up against the stigma.

It was no secret that what she had accomplished thus far was definitely plausible but men still looked at her differently - hence her tough, stoic demeanour.

Emotions equalled weakness - at least in the corporate world it did.

Despite the lack of emotion from her end, Alexa always displayed appreciation and gratitude towards her employees which was evident because none of them had resigned or even thought about handing in their resignation letter just yet.

She employed a lot of young women and men so the chances of them staying at her company were slim, according to research.

That's why she aimed to provide a work environment that not only enhanced productivity and positivity but an environment that brought out the best in everyone and a space where they were able to showcase their skills and strengths.

This week they planned to finish the last couple of interviews. After hiring a few more employees, Alexa's team would finally be complete.

She did however have plans to provide ten to twenty graduates the opportunity to intern at her company. It was in the pipeline and was set to happen in the near future.

"Thank you so much for coming Mr Amato, please have a seat." Alexa had been so engrossed in the thoughts whirling through her busy mind that she didn't even notice the man entering the room.
