"You need a break." Emily stated, making Alexa roll her eyes in annoyance. When you have this much responsibility over a company and employees there was no time for breaks.
Even when you eventually decided to take a much needed break, your mind is still plagued with so many work related issues. "Emily, I barely have time to think straight. Do you really think a break is on the agenda?"
The receptionist who also happened to be a really close friend of Alexa shook her head in disapproval. "You're a workaholic that's your problem. I admire your work ethic I do but that doesn't mean you're suppose to kill yourself in the process." She huffed.
Alexa knew her friend was probably right but none of that mattered now because she had work to do and lots of it. "I'm not killing myself, I'm simply just putting in effort now so that I can be content later in life. That's how life works, you reap what you sow."
"Alexa the apostle everybody." Emily said sarcastically. "Trust me, I understand your sentiments but you also require relaxation. Your mental and physical wellbeing is important."
"I relax on weekends." Was Alexa's quick response and she skipped the honourable mention of her wellbeing. She didn't know in which direction this conversation was heading but she knew her friend - so that only meant one thing, nothing good could come from it.
"Everybody that works here relaxes on weekends. So," Emily began and that was a clear indication that she had something planned. "Next Friday, you need to clear your schedule because I've got a surprise for you."
Alexa shook her head and closed her eyes for a few seconds. "No absolutely not, the last time you had a surprise for me we almost ended spending the night in a jail cell." She almost shuddered at the unpleasant memory.
"Fair play but technically that wasn't my fault and the officer acknowledged that." Emily knew leveraging with her friend would be a difficult task so she wasn't going to attempt it only to end up failing miserably.
"Whatever you have planned, count me out but you know I'll encourage you. What did you always tell me? We're here for a good time not a long time yes?"
Emily sighed dramatically and sunk lower into her chair, then looked at her friend with sad sparkling eyes. Alexa's facial expression never faltered because she already knew all about these manipulative tactics.
Emily had dark blue eyes that shimmered in the sun and underneath any sort of lighting, whether it were natural or artificial. So whenever she looked sad her eyes were the first thing that stood out from the rest of her facial features.
"Don't give me that look." Alexa said sternly even though she was extremely close to caving in. There were only a handful of people that managed to witness the playful side to her and it was extremely infectious.
Her emerald coloured eyes was the most intriguing feature about Alexa, so when she smiled you couldn't help but notice them. Then there were her dimples, it caught your attention next - giving her somewhat of a cute innocent appearance.
She had naturally long eyelashes and her cheeks always had a rosey tint to them. Her full heart shaped lips matched the rosey colour on her cheeks so she often just wore clear lipgloss to enhance the natural feature.
Alexa was a brunette but dyed her hair a caramel blonde colour which suited her tanned skin-tone perfectly. When she was much younger, the woman invested in braces to straighten her teeth and now the only thing she did to maintain it was whiten them from time to time.
"I know you're skeptical and rightfully so but I promise you're going to love the place, just trust me on this one." Emily tried to salvage the situation.
