When Jungkook got home from blurting out how much he thought about Taehyung, at midnight on the front step of his house, he wasn't sure what to do with himself.

There was no way he was going to be able to sleep and he wasn't very hungry, nor was he interested in writing humiliating things about Taehyung either.

So, he rolled a joint, sat in the hot tub and got stoned, which seemed appropriate. And because he hadn't changed as much as he thought, he called Jimin.

"Morning, Jungkookie," Jimin greeted him, "Kinda late there," he noted, looking around for the time.

Jungkook exhaled smoke through his nose, "Yeah, a little. Good morning to you, though. What time is it there?"

"Nine or ten," Jimin shrugged, sipping coffee and looking out into the bright blue morning.

"What's up? You never call me," he added, trying to gracefully acknowledge the awkwardness.

Jungkook coughed, "That's not true," he choked, throat feeling raw.

Jimin laughed, low and rumbly in his ear, "Fine, you hardly ever call me," he conceded, voice rich with complacent humor, "So what's up that you're calling me so late?"

"Um, I don't know. I wanted your opinion on something, I guess," Jungkook laid out, slow-blinking through the mist coming off the water.

"Shoot," Jimin prompted, sitting back in his chair and crossing his legs.

Jungkook settled back into the jets and looked up at the moon.

"Taehyung told me that if I want him back then I need to try harder," he admitted, feeling truly sad for the first time that night.

Jimin raised an eyebrow, "Have you been trying at all?"

"Sorry, that was a dumb question. If you're talking at all, then I know you are trying. What exactly does he want from you? What a fucking asshole," Jimin added, quickly stepping in line.

Jungkook exhaled a hum of laughter, "It's been a bad year, Chim, maybe one of the worst yet, but you don't have to placate me," he said, eyes growing heavy.

"I'm not, I'm really not," Jimin backtracked, "I just don't really get it. Have you even been trying to get back together with him?"

Jungkook shrugged, "No? I don't know. I kissed him, and then he crashed his car so I bought him a new one. And then I bought this stupid fucking ranch in Montana and I guess that was for him too," he blurted out, rubbing his face. When you put it like that...

"But like, I don't know if I'm trying to get back together with him. We haven't really talked about it, we just got into this weird conversation and he kind of flipped out," he finished, words getting all caked-up in his mouth.

Jimin choked on his coffee, "I'm sorry, what? Wait, hold on. We can come back to the kiss and the ranch. What do you mean he flipped out?"

Jungkook bit the inside of his cheek and shrugged in uncertainty, "He told me that he doesn't forgive me and if I ever want him back, that I need to win him back," he sighed, reticent to say all of this to anyone, much less Jimin.
