The Concert

Sam told me to meet him, Seb, and Abigail at the bus stop for their concert in ZuZu City. I grabbed a granola bar and my bag and sprinted to go meet him.
"Hey! There they are!" Sam pulled me in for a tight hug.
"Looks like someone slept well," I chuckled.
"Of course I did," Sam jokingly scoffed, "The second coming of my mother made me!"
"Whatever dude," I rolled my eyes.
"You two lovebirds ready to go? We've gotta make it a few hours early and we have a long drive ahead," Sebastian called from the van's driver's seat. Abigail was laughing from the passenger's side.
"Speak for yourself, Seb," Sam retorted, "Your girlfriend is in shotgun!"
"Whatever man, just get in," Sebastian replied.
The two of us filed into the back row amongst CD's, amps, and other equipment.
"I love how you guys are making us sit with all the equipment," Sam sighed.
"You two need to figure stuff out," Abigail snickered, "We saw how you were acting last night."
"Whatever, Abigail," I rolled my eyes.
"What music do you guys want?" Sebastian asked.
"Anything's fine," We all said in unison.
"Alright then, I'll shuffle my playlist," Sebastian said.
"Hey Sam," I said.
"Yeah? What's up Y/N?" he replied.
"D'you mind if I rest my head here?" I pointed to his shoulder, "I didn't get much sleep so forgive me I take a nap."
"Go right ahead," Sam replied, "I'll wake you up when we stop for lunch." I rested my head as he began to play with my hair. I soon drifted off, Sam's signature vanilla and smoke faintly wafting into my nose.

Sam's POV:

Y/N fell asleep on me again. They're so perfect, I wonder how they would react to me asking them out. Only time will tell, especially with the finale of the concert. In a few hours I'll either be a very lucky guy, or completely heartbroken. And to think, it all depends on this concert. I began to play with their hair, praying that they would say yes. I don't understand why I like them so much. Maybe it was their laugh, the way they could always make me smile, their bright E/C eyes, the fact that they willingly spend time with me, their love for music, or maybe I'm just crazy.
"Yo, Sam, tell Y/N that we're at the lunch place," Seb said from the front.
"Alright. Hey Y/N," I whispered, not wanting to startle them, "Wake up."

Y/N's POV:

"Wake up," Sam whispered, "Lunchtime."
"Oh, thanks," I rubbed my eyes, "What time is it?"
"Around 11:30," He replied, "Let's go, after you,"
I squeezed my way past equipment as he followed close behind. We were at a diner off of the highway, about half way to ZuZu City. The four of us got inside and were ushered to a booth near the back.
"What would you guys like to eat?" the waitress asked.
"I'll have a grilled cheese," I said.
"Make that two," Sam replied.
"I'll have a cheeseburger," Sebastian said.
"I'll have an order of french fries," Abigail said
"Alright then, we'll get those out as soon as possible," the waitress replied. Soon after, our food was brought out, and we all started to eat.
"So, how was your nap Y/N?" Abigail asked. I felt my skin grow warmer.
"I-it was great thank you," I retorted. Sam scratched his neck.
"It looked like you had a nice pillow," Sebastian snickered. With that comment, Sam's face went beet red.
"Go make out," Sam sighed.
"Okay, we will," Abigail said as they both got up to definitely use the bathroom.
"Anyways," I laughed, "They were right. You do make a nice pillow."
"Gee, thanks," Sam rolled his eyes, "How long d'you think those two are gonna be gone?"
"Ten minutes at the most," I replied, "You wanna bet?"
"Alright I'll take that deal," Sam smirked, "20g. Ten or less, you win. Eleven or more, I win."
"Oh you are so on," I replied. I got out my phone to start the timer. Sure enough, around eight minutes later, they returned. "Yes! I win!" I cheered, "Sam, give me my money."
"Fine, fine," He sighed as he handed over 20g and turned to Abigail and Sebastian, "So how was it."
"Oh we didn't do anything, we just waited long enough to make it look like we did," Abigail laughed.
"Then I want my money back Y/N," Sam said.
"Nope!" I exclaimed, "You lost, fair and square!" Sam groaned.
"Alright here's your bill," the waitress said.
"Here you go," I replied, handing her the 20g I just won, "Keep the change."
"Hey! I thought you were gonna by something for yourself with that money, not pay for my lunch!" Sam exclaimed.
"We'll for one, it's not just yours, and two, think of it as an act of friendship," I winked. We soon headed back on the road, and arrived in ZuZu City within a couple hours. The familiar scent of smog and gasoline reminded me of my days here, before I had left for Pelican Town, before I met Abigail, Seb, and Sam. We carried the equipment onto the stage, and plugged everything in (luckily without blowing a circuit). The concert started around 6:00, so we had some time to chill beforehand. "Am I your guy's personal, unpaid roadie now?" I asked jokingly.
"Well do you want to be?" Seb said.
"I don't have a preference. All I'm saying is that you're getting free labor from me right now," I replied. Abigail and Seb laughed.
"You excited to watch us?" Abigail asked.
"Of course I am!" I exclaimed, "I wouldn't be a good friend if I wasn't!"
"Well, personally I think you just wanna watch the frontman," Seb smiled.
"Oh be quiet!" I retorted, "I love you all equally."
"You sure about that?" Seb said.
"I don't think they are," Abigail laughed.
"Okay you two," Sam chimed in, "Knock it off."
"Y'know what Sam," Abigail started, "You've been acting awfully strange these past few days, do you mind sharing what's on your mind?"
"I'm not acting weird!" Sam exclaimed, "I'm just a little nervous for the concert!"
"Mmmmmkay," Abigail narrowed her eyes, "Now let's go practice a little, people are already starting to file in!"
People started to slowly trickle into the venue. Talks of the uprising band were loud and frequent. Around fifteen minutes later, the venue was packed. From my estimate, around 120 people were here. Soon, the lights dimmed, and Sam, Abigail, and Sebastian soon appeared from behind the stage.
"Hello everyone!" Sam said as he took the microphone, "Thanks for coming out tonight! We are The Pelicans!" The applause from the audience, including me, was loud enough to shake the ground. "Alright then, let's kick this show off with a little Nirvana, shall we?" Sam exclaimed as they started to play. All in all, the show was amazing. Abigail's drums were loud and booming, Seb's keyboard was melodic and steady, and Sam's guitar was riveting and filled with distortion. The three of them were extremely prepared for this one night. And then came the finale.
"Alright folks," Sam started, "This'll be the last song of the night, but I promise you it'll be a special one. Because, you see, this is an original song, written by me. It's about a person who's very special to me, a person who is currently in. the audience as we speak," He winked at me, "I call this song, Try Hard."
