"You basically roll a dice and play as a fantasy character, super fun." Mike explained as Mel stared blankly at him. "I thought you knew what it was, you read the announcement about it!"
"First off, Eddie somehow snuck that in." Mel grabbed a stack of papers off the printer. "Second of all, I have to cover the game tonight, sorry Mike."
Mike let out a sigh before turning on his heel. "Thanks anyways." As Mike left, Mel walked across the room, packing up the camera she would use tonight.
"Hey, hey, hey!" Robin's voice trailed as she entered the room. "How's my Mel-Belle doing?"
"Great! One of the freshmen that you know just asked me to fill in and play DND tonight?" Mel furrowed her eyebrows slightly, "I don't know why he would think I know how to play out of all people."
"He probably thinks your obsession with Eddie links you directly to the Hellfire club." Robin traced her finger randomly across the desk.
"Obsession?" Mel asked, stopping what she was doing. She shot Robin a glare, "I am not obsessed with him. He's annoying and not self-aware AT ALL."
"Okayyy," Robin spoke with obvious sarcasm in her voice. "How come you know his entire schedule, including when and where he carries out his drug deals?"
Mel stared at Robin, crossing her arms. "I'm just a very observant person."
"Alright, Melian, stay in denial." Robin grinned at her friend, "Make sure to cheer me on at the game tonight."
"Speaking of, have you figured out how you're going to talk to Vickie?" Mel slid next to her friend, shimmying her shoulders up and down.
Robin sighed, dropping her head. "No! It's like no matter how much I prepare or think about what I'm going to say, every time I am around her I just lose all my words. And you know I am a very talkative person!"
"That you are," Mel pointed a finger at Robin. "This is why you have to talk to her like you would be talking to a friend! Casual and then slowly build up to the point where you can start dropping some hints."
"Do you really think she likes girls? Because if she doesn't that would be so awkward for the both of us and I can't imagine-"
Mel placed both her hands on Robin's shoulders, "Robin. That girl is as fruity as the perfume Helen Clark sprays on in between every period, I think you'll be fine."
Robin nodded her head quickly, "You're right, you're right. I've got this, I'm gonna talk to her tonight. Thank you, Mel."
"Anytime," Mel pulled Robin in for a hug. "I'll see you tonight, 'kay?"
"See you tonight!" Robin waved as she walked out the door.

As Tammy Thompson sang her muppet-like rendition of the national anthem, Mel stood in the corner with a camera in hand. After the "singing", Melian spotted Nancy Wheeler in the corner of the room, she had previously been a journalism mentor to Mel years prior.
