The world they live in isn't fair.
That is quite the understatement. But when is life ever?
It wasn't a surprise that some submissives started to hate dominants. Not only for what they represented but for all of their actions, their entire being.
Taehyung is one of those submissives.
Being an omega makes him the lowest rank there is. It is no wonder that whenever he glances at a dominant a fire builds within him, hating the other with a burning passion even though he has never even spoken a word with them.
Maybe that is a little unfair. Judging beforehand perhaps isn't the best thing to do. After all, there are good ones out there.
They're rare nowadays, but they haven't completely gone extinct.
But Taehyung rather expects the bad, that way he can somewhat protect himself. If he always expects disappointment, he won't get disappointed. He can't expect much from a high-ranked, other than being commanded around.
Currently, the male pushes himself through a small group of wolves, stomping away enraged.
And for good reason.
He is avoiding his best friend.
Jimin, the pretty, sweet little omega that he is, decided to take it upon himself to enlist in The Hunt.
Being acutely aware of the possible outcomes, Taehyung can't be more worried. But for the biggest part he is angry.
He is angry, because how could Jimin ever take that risk?
What if he won't make it out alive?
All it takes, is for one wrong wolf to go after him and he would be done for.
And Jimin is beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous. Even his wolf is ethereal. It would only make sense for dominants to go after his scent, which is alluring enough already as it is. Taehyung can't possibly imagine how addicting it would be for his mate once it'd hit their nostrils.
>Tae, how many times do I have to tell you that I'm sorry? I really am! But you have to understand where I'm coming from!
He stops, letting himself flop down on the soft green grass. He sighs out in frustration, throwing away some rock whilst contemplating whether he should block the mind link they share, temporarily or not.
<I am not mad at you, Jimin. Well, sort of, I am. I'm just worried. You know what can happen. I can't lose you. Not now, not ever. I do understand where you're coming from, I really, really do. Trust me. But are you really willing to take the risk?
It was silent for a few seconds.
>To be honest, I'm terrified. But I want a chance at love too, Taehyungie. And I can't back out now, the harm's already been done. I'll have to be ready by tonight.
By what now?!
Taehyung's mouth went ajar. The fact that he signed up for it was already bad enough itself, it would take some time to adjust to that idea. But this, this was just too much.
<No way. There's no way, Jiminie. I need time to adjust to it, there might be a chance I'll never be able to speak to you again. And you're telling me now that you'll have to be ready by tonight? This could be our last day together for sakes! what the hell are we supposed to do?!
>Where are you at? I'll come to you. I don't want to talk about this matter through a stupid mind link, it's way too important for that.
Taehyung isn't sure if he is able to face him. But it is not like he has some other choice. Like he said, this could possibly be the last time ever.
So, not even fifteen minutes later, Jimin joined him on the soft grass. They sat in silence, neither of them suddenly knowing what to say.
"I saw Hoseok today." Jimin begins, trying to start up a conversation. They have to make the best out of it, after all.
"He had been training with the other dominants. He looked pretty fucked up." The sound of Jimin's soft giggles made Taehyung turn his head.
A smile broke out on his face, after seeing the way Jimin's eyes sparkled at the mere memory of it.
Hoseok is an alpha. There are quite a few alpha's around -too many for Taehyung's liking- but that specific one is the biggest dick towards both Jimin and Taehyung in particular.
The man had often tried to make a move on Taehyung, only for him to manage to squeeze himself out of the situation every single time again.
He had to. It is illegal.
If they get caught, who is going to get the blame? Indeed. Taehyung is.
And it wasn't even his fault. It was Hoseok's, and the damned alpha knows all too well how much power he has. He can pretty much do anything, getting away with it shouldn't be a problem for him.
Taehyung has so far gotten out of every situation by dashing towards open places, where many wolves were around. Witnesses.
He isn't interested in the alpha in the slightest. The said man treats his best friend like shit and he isn't going to stand by and let that happen.
Not that he can do much about it, but he most definitely could reject the alpha in every way he could possibly think of. It isn't like the alpha is a sweetheart regarding him either. No, the complete opposite.
It only fuels the hate Taehyung already has towards them even more.
Some giggles left his own mouth, imagining Hoseok losing every round in training against the others.
"I have to start getting ready." Jimin suddenly announces, pushing himself up.
Taehyung's heart started pounding, his expression said it all.
They stared at each other for a few seconds, trying to swallow the heavy lumps in their throats away.
Taehyung wraps his arms around the other boy. He could feel his small frame shaking from fear.
"Promise me that if something goes wrong, you'll howl." Taehyung requests, looking at him dead seriously.
But the male shakes his head, locks falling in front of his face.
"I wish I could, Tae. But there are rules. I can not ask for help. If you'd try to intervene, you would get killed as well. I don't want to risk that. Let's just hope for the best, alright?"
The hopeful look in Jimin's eyes made Taehyung press his lips tightly together.
In the end, all he could do was nod in agreement.
This was Jimin's choice. And so, he will support his best friend.
He wished him all the luck in the world, and he could only pray for all of it to go well while he watched his small figure disappear in the distance.
He visualised Jimin's wolf sprinting away into the dark forest, which instantly caused his stomach to churn and twist.
He isn't sure if he would be able to watch all of it happen.
But it might be the last time he will see him in his for now very much alive state, plus he promised him that he'd be there.
So he will, whether he wants to or not.
