chapter 11

Este always thought it would be awkward right after she kissed someone. That's why she always leaves when she kisses someone. She never knows what to say or do. This time it's different. Everything is different with Kit and she doesn't know why. How did this boy just charm her in a way that no boy has ever done?

"Wanna watch a movie?" Kit asks breaking the silence.

"Only if I get to decide which one."

"Sure as long as I get to choose the next time."

"Who says there is going to be a next time Kit Connor?"

"We are friends aren't we?"

"Yes."

She got friendzoned after kissing her crush. That's awkward. Like on a scale from 1 to 10 she is feeling a definite 8 right now. Este hopes her cheeks are not red but the sneaky grin on Kit's face tells her otherwise.

"Okay so what movie were you thinking of?"

"Bridget Jones's Diary, because you said you are in love with young Hugh Grant."

"Stop, how did you know?"

"I'm on Heartstopper tik tok so I basically know everything, so I also know how to charm you."

"Well how would you charm me Este?"

"I would casually bring 'Normal People' into the conversation since you love that show so much. I don't blame you though, it was really good and Daisy Edgar-Jones is so pretty."

"Right! She is so underrated. I'm glad she is doing more movies now."

"Same. So wanna watch the movie I suggested?"

"Of course."

When they are 20 minutes in the pizza arrives, Kit has a 'pulled chicken pizza' and Este chooses a simple 'pepperoni pizza.' An hour later Este is laying on Kit's chest, full of the pizza she just ate. He plays with her hair while both of them stare at the tv screen. The movie is entertaining enough to even get Este to watch it all. She normally has the worst attention span ever but this time it was okay but maybe it was just because of her comfortable position.

"So what are we gonna do now?"

"We could go for a walk if you want, Basil and Sybil need to pee too."

"Of course, let's walk your dogs."

A minute later both of them leave his house with one dog each. Kit told her Sybil was a little more calm and Basil liked to run. Since Este wasn't really the athletic type she chose to hold Sybil.

"Can I ask you a random question?"

"Yes."

"Are you a cat or dog person?"

"Cats definitely. I guess you are a dog person aren't you?"

"Guessed correctly. But I honestly love all animals as long as they are fluffy and nice."

"I've always wanted a brown cat when I get older since they are very rare. You never see a brown cat."

"What would you call it?"

"Probably Flora or something like that. I also love classical English names, Christine and James are so lucky with theirs."

"But Este is such a pretty name! You should be happy with it."

"Yeah I guess it does fit me the best."

After walking the dogs they return to Kit's home and eat the cupcakes they made in the afternoon. Este ends up agreeing with Kit saying they really are the best cupcakes she has ever eaten. After that they return to the couch and both sit on their phone for about 30 minutes.

"Oh Este I've got a premiere soon for the movie 'Elvis.' Do you wanna be my plus one?"

"Are you serious?"

"Yes?"

"You want me to be your plus one to a fucking movie premiere?"

"That's what I'm saying, yeah."

"You have got to be kidding me, do you even have to ask? Of course I wanna be your plus one!"

"Okay good, when I have more information I'll tell you alright?"

"Yes. This is so cool."

Este immediately texts the group chat with Rhea, Christine and James to tell her friends the cool news. All her friends freak out for her, even Rhea who is well known herself. Kit watches her text smiling to himself, happy that she is so excited about it. That is literally all he wanted to achieve. Este looks over at him and catches him staring.

"Why are you staring at me like that?"

"I don't know, you're just really cute."

"Shut up" Este says playfully, but with burning red cheeks.

"Anything on your mind you wanna do?"

"Yes. I wanna listen to all of my favorite Taylor Swift songs with you while eating more cupcakes."

"Sounds good to me. You can connect your Spotify with the box over there."

Este does so and begins with happy songs like 'the very first night' and 'new romantics.'

"Okay so this song sounds a little weird at first but if you listen to the lyrics it's literally Nick and Charlie like i listened to this and related it to them."

She puts on 'it's nice to have a friend' and sings along softly. Kit listens to the lyrics while watching her. He is really just fascinated about the way she knows the lyrics to every single song she has played. After a while she gets to the slow ballads like 'champagne problems' and 'this is me trying' and Kit is amazed by the lyrics just like she had hoped.

"I know right! Taylor really doesn't get enough credit for her work. She is a literal lyrical genius."

"We should go to one of her concerts."

"I really want to but the tickets are always sold out in like 30 seconds so it's never gonna happen."

"It's always worth a try right?"

"True."

After a lot more talking, laughing and even some kisses the two decide to go to bed. They share one, being comfortable enough with each other to do that. Este doses of minutes later and Kit follows.
