CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Jade awoke at three o'clock in the morning to find Beth's bed empty. Immediately concerned, Jade ran to Kevin's room. She stood outside of his door and slipped into his mind.
Beth's not here, she thought.
Wha-? Kevin replied incoherently.
Beth's bed is empty. She not in the house. Wake up, Kevin. I need your help, she explained.
Jade tried to help Kevin clear his mind. Since he was a slayer, waking up on short notice wasn't that hard for him, so it didn't take much effort.
As they drank some coffee in an attempt to become functional, Joey came downstairs. "Mama, what wrong?" He asked cautiously.
"I'm sorry we woke you, Baby," she replied instead of answering him.
"Where Aunt Beth?" Joey asked.
Jade sighed. "We're not sure, Baby... Can you take up to the Phillips house?"
"Okay, Mama," Joey agreed. He immediately opened a door.
As they stepped through, Kevin's eyes widened. "Whoa," he said as he looked around the long hallway that Joey used to access other locations. "This is incredible..."
"This is nothing," Jade replied. "His actual dimension is a lot more impressive."
They arrived at the Phillips house before they could discuss it further. Unsurprisingly, Arnie and Aideen were wide awake, as was Clarissa. Courtney had passed out about an hour before.
"Clarissa, can you watch Joey for a little while?" Jade asked. "You can just put him back to bed... Beth's missing."
"You know I don't mind watching Joey," Clarissa replied.
"What do you mean Beth's missing?" Aideen asked.
"She's not in the house, and I have a bad feeling," Jade explained.
"Let's go find her, then," Arnie said.
Arnie, Kevin, Aideen, and Jade left the house quickly. Along the way, they ran into Alex, Dylan, Jesse, Randy, Melissa, Cierra, and Spencer. "What are you guys doing out at this hour?" Alex asked in surprise. "I tried to call all of you."
"What's wrong?" Aideen asked.
"Cassandra was ambushed. She's alive, but seriously injured. She's at the Unit. We all just came back from seeing her," Cierra replied.
"Will she be okay?" Arnie asked in alarm.
"Yeah, she just needs a night or two off, which she's protesting, because she's Cassandra," Dylan replied with a laugh.
"Beth's missing," Jade blurted out.
"Already?" Alex asked.
"What do you mean, 'already?'" Kevin asked.
"Well, from what I've recently remembered about our past lives, usually when Beth undergoes this transformation, she goes missing on everyone until her soul unlocks fully, so she can finally start to balance herselves. We need to find her. I'm not sure if she's ready."
"She's at Gallows Hill Park," Randy said suddenly.
Alex looked at him. "How do you know that, Randy?"
"I just do, Alex. Come on, we don't have much time. She's in danger." Randy led the way to the park.
It took them five minutes to get to the park, and by then, Beth was already surrounded by warlocks. Quickly, the slayers began to battle them and the others did their best to use magick to fight.
