CHAPTER FOURTEEN
The informant was certainly enjoying himself. He came out of Aideen's prison with a satisfied smirk on his face. Her blood covered his flesh. He nodded at Gabriel, Amos, and Mr. Ko as he spotted them.
"You have quite the sadistic side, my friend," Gabriel observed.
"She's been killing our kind for too long," he replied. "She deserves what she gets."
"How much longer are we going to keep this up?" Amos asked.
"Until we break her completely," Gabriel replied. "Is that a problem, Amos?"
"Of course not," Amos replied quickly. "I just think we should be careful about keeping her for too long. We all know what the girl is capable of."
"Don't worry about that... She's weak now. When are you going to bring your son for his turn, Amos?"
"Perhaps I will bring him by when Mr. Ko brings his," Amos replied.
"Chad has been here," Mr. Ko reminded him.
"He hasn't touched the girl."
"He will in time. He is here to observe and learn. Your boy has not come here once."
"You must both be proud to have sons to carry on your legacies," the informant said with a charming smile. He was naturally a smooth talker and easily calmed potentially dangerous situations between the warlocks before they got out of hand.
He's going to rise to power quickly, Amos thought. The guy is a natural leader. He knows how to play the game.
"Yes," Mr. Ko replied. "We are both very fortunate."
"It is time for the next shift to take over," Gabriel said as more warlocks arrived. "Come, Gentlemen. We should leave."
Together, they exited the building. Just before they would have split up, they were spotted by an unseen witness.
Warlocks, Thea thought as she spotted two of their faces. She might have mauled them on principle, but she hesitated as she realized she smelled a familiar scent.
Her eyes proved what her nose already knew. Ted, she thought. Why am I not surprised?
She kept her distance as she watched the warlocks go their separate ways. Ted was smiling too much for him to be there under protest.
Ted's working with the warlocks, she realized. Suddenly, she knew who had betrayed Timmy. She also understood why Sekhmet had insisted she was the only one who could handle things.
Tina thinks he walks on water, and Tracy's accepted him as family, she thought. They won't be able to bring themselves to kill our brother. It's up to me.
She knew she needed to catch Ted by surprise and take him down, but she couldn't see him anymore. She sniffed the air, hoping to pick up his scent. As soon as she did, she realized she was in trouble.
"Oh, Thea..." Ted said as he stabbed her in her side with a silver sword. "I had so hoped it wouldn't come to this."
Thea cursed in pain before turning around to face him. "Traitor," she growled.
"I prefer warlock," he replied.
"You betrayed Timmy," she said. "He was your baby brother, Ted!"
"He was pathetic! What sort of royal lycanthrope is submissive?" Ted snapped. "He was a disgrace."
"The only disgrace here is you."
