Eddie gave you a ride back to your house and you shook your head when your dad was waiting outside. "Thanks for the ride Eddie, I'm, I'll see you later."

He nods but doesn't pull out of the driveway. "Hey, you can leave, I don't think my dad likes the sight of your van in my driveway." You give a nervous laugh after taking a glance at your dad.

"I, I'm gonna talk to him." He turns off the van and hops out. You nod with wide eyes and rush to your dad.

"Hi dad, you remember Eddie." Eddie is right behind you as you reintroduce them.

"He wants to, talk." Your dad looks confused but he nods. You walk into the house and see your mom and sisters on the couch. "I'm home." You smile when your sisters wave enthusiastically.

"I brought a friend, he wants to, uhh, talk to dad." Your mom nods and ushers your sisters out of the room.

"You can stay." Your dad walks in with Eddie trailing behind him. You nod and set your bag beside the couch. You take a seat and your dad gestures to the loveseat across from it.

"You can sit there." Eddie nods and your dad sits beside you.

"I want to listen to your explanation for you standing up my angel." Your dad sets his hand on your shoulder and looks expectantly at Eddie.

Eddie nods and rings his hands together. "I, honestly, I had forgotten on Friday. My uncle was home early from work and he took my keys from me for some, some stupid argument."

You watch for your dads reaction and you see his brows furrow. "You didn't call, I know that." You wince and eye Eddie. "You have our number, our address, if I wanted to, I could kick you out right now for how you made her feel."

"If you truly wanted to be here, you wouldn't have forgotten about her." Eddie nods at your dads exclamation, his head turned down.

You sit in silence for what feels like eternity, the air brimming with awkward tension.

Finally, your dad sighs and shakes his head. "I am giving you one, one chance." Eddie's head shoots up and he's smiling.

"You won't regret this, honest, I swear." You're both smiling when your dad nods.

"You will not be getting another chance and I have rules for dating my daughter." Eddie's leaning forward and you almost interrupt your dad after your face flushes with heat.

"Dad, you don't need to." His hand is on your arm and you suck in a breath.

"1. Curfew." He holds up his hand for emphasis. "It is 11:00pm, not 11:30, not midnight, 11:00pm."

Eddie's nodding along and you grimace.

"2. If you are over, her door is open at all times."

This was so embarrassing.

"OKAY! Dad, I think he gets it." You clear your throat and stand. Your dad and Eddie follow, and they both turn to you.

You smile, "I'll see you later, okay Eddie?" He nods and makes way to the door.

"Thank you, Mr. Spears," he saluted as he opens the door, "I won't let you down!"

You laugh when he walks out the door.

"You sure about that one?" Your dad turns to you with an questioning glance and you nod ecstatically.

"Thank you daddy." You give him a quick hug before grabbing your bag and rushing upstairs to your room.
