. : Laura of Neverland : .

"What have you done?"

Laura's chest tightened, and she stared at Sebastian through the slimy film of the barrier. Thirty-two years of safety inside the barrier, and here she stood, outside the barrier. His smile dropped and confusion overtook his freckled face.

The forest beyond the barrier screamed, wind howling through it and the trees quivering in fear. If it weren't already dark, the stars would've gone out. Neverland screamed for her and her magic.

She could feel the finding magic almost immediately. It came straight for her, for the first time in years. It had realized it had missed one and was hunting her.

"Shit," She muttered. She twitched her hand towards the firewall she had been holding up during the duration of her fight. Laura couldn't hold it if she was taken away, not to mention the way her heart was pounding. She was running low on energy. "You have made such a bad mistake."

Sebastian stared at her, and stepped forward, through the barrier. Laura took a few steps away, avoiding the mock concern on his face.

Laura glanced up at the sky. The magic had honed in. In the distance, she could hear the tell-tale screeches of stymphs. Laura's heart was pounding. She should've never brought them this close to the barrier. They would be defenceless without her. Pan had specifically charmed the magic so nobody could sense her presence inside; it had been his dying spell, but unfortunately, it went both ways. It kept her presence in, but if she made the mistake of stepping out, she couldn't reenter.

"Max!" She screamed, breaking into a jog. Her second looked up from where she was digging a knife into a pirate's chest. "Retreat! Now!"

Her second stared at her for a moment, her eyes wide with fear. This wasn't supposed to occur this way. She was supposed to keep Neverland safe. Stupid fucking prince had outsmarted her.

She would never let that happen again.

The prince in question was following her as she ran, sprinting along the beach. She could always duck into the water to escape, but that would hurt, and she couldn't hold her breath very long. It could also upset the balance, and she was not about to do that just to save herself from a school.

Her second jumped into action, gesturing to the Twilight Children. They instantly responded, ducking out of their individual fights, and snatching their dead-- three now. They made a break for the woods, the soldiers and pirates cheering. Laura let the fire slip long enough to let them in then reinstated it, stopping them from being chased.

She could see the stymphs now. They had honed on her. She narrowed her eyes. They normally only sent one per student, but there were three. All honed in on her.

She opened her vial of dust, and desperately tipped a little pinch into her hands. Her hands were shaking as she did so, attempting to run away from the blood-thirsty Prince behind her at the same time.

She was so hungry, and her body wouldn't stop shaking from the cold. Laura didn't have much magic left.

Laura threw the dust, and ran straight through it, launching herself into the air. She went flying upwards, away from Sebastian.

The stymphs screeched, and one flew at her, bony eyes bulging out of its skull. The other two broke away.

High above the battleground, Laura could see the carnage they had left, and the Twilight Children fleeing into the forest.
