. : Laura of Neverland : .

"Are you really sure this is a good idea?" Laura grunted, using her shoulder to boost Agatha up and into the ventilation shaft. The girl's dark clump dug into her already sore muscles and only made her clench her teeth.

Agatha gripped the edge of the roof and hoisted herself up. Laura gave her one last shove, and she vanished into the chute above their room. Laura lowered her arms and tilted her head to look at her new roommate.

"I don't know if it is a good idea," Agatha spoke, her voice echoing through the metallic chute. "But I have to try and convince Sophie to go home with me."

Laura hummed in response, resting her hands on her hips. Her hands were shaking from the chill inside her, and the stupid pink pinafore didn't help. She could feel the goosebumps pebbling along every inch of exposed skin.

She had met Agatha last night when she had stumbled into the room after her. Their third roommate-- who Laura didn't even get to meet before she dashed out sobbing-- had insisted on a new room.

Laura had seen Sophie at the welcoming in the amphitheatre and had to admit, she did stand out from the rest of the nevers. Blonde hair and perfect faces weren't typical from the nevers Laura had met in her many years, and from the way Sophie had stared at the princes, Laura had the feeling that she likely wouldn't be willing to return to the woods beyond.

"I hope it goes well. Do you want me to grab you anything for breakfast?" Laura twisted her neck once. She had passed out last night the second she got into bed. That little display of burning Sebastian's rose had been worth it simply for the look on his face, but it had been enough to give her a raging headache. Her magic yawned in her, craving something warm and hearty. It had been reduced to embers on Neverland, right before she passed out. She hadn't used up that much magic in a long time and had forgotten how much it hurt.

Agatha's black eyes peered at her through the shaft. "If there is anything remotely tasty, maybe stash it. If I'm lucky, I won't be coming back."

Laura nodded, and her new friend shimmied away, and the sound of her falling echoed for a moment before Laura was left in the empty silence of the room.

She clenched her hands into fists and shoved them into her armpits. Laura took a few steps over to her desk and viewed her schedule once more. Sure enough, Dovey's class hadn't moved. Good deeds. After lunch. Laura just had to make it through the morning, and then she could see Dovey, and get out of this wretched place.

Laura took a deep breath, and shoved her books into a large stack, scooping them into her arms, along with her schedule. She turned on one of the blush pink mary janes that had been given to her and pushed open the door to the hallway.

She nearly gagged at the overwhelming scent of perfume. All the notes and flavours melded together until all that stood out was the alcohol. The girls she shared a hallway with were darting back and forth, not one of them clothed or prepared for food. Laura hesitated, considering hiding in her room until the hallway cleared out.

Then again, she considered, she could fight full-grown soldiers and control wildfires. Why would she let a gaggle of evergirls stop her.

She clenched her jaw, and stepped out, making her movements swift. Laura weaved between girls, ignoring the noise until she had escaped into the tall glass staircase. She made it halfway down before her head began to swim.

Yeah, she definitely needed to eat something.

Laura managed to stumble down the last half of the staircase, and hesitated, taking deep breaths to calm the magic. The stupid thing wouldn't stop screaming at her.
