I was upstairs with Charlie and heard mum and dad talking outside on the front garden.

"We're barely making ends meet as it was." Dad said.

"It'll be alright, you'll find another job. Until then, I'll just... well, I'll just thin down the soup a little more. Don't worry, Mr. Bucket. Our luck will change, I know it." Mum reassured him and then they hugged.

"Charlie. Cadie." I heard Grandpa Joe whisper.

We moved away from the whole in the roof and walked down to Grandpa Joe.

He put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a quarter and moved it over to us.

"My secret hoard. You and Charlie are going to have one more fling at finding the last ticket." Joe said, placing the quarter in my hand.

"Are you sure you want to spend your money on that, Grandpa?" I asked him.

"Of course I'm sure. Here. Run down to the nearest store, and buy the first Wonka candy bar you see. Bring it straight back and we'll all open it together." He told me.

Me and Charlie put our coats on and left the house and began walking to the nearest shop.

We picked ip the first Wonka bar we saw, paid for it and then ran home.

Once we got back inside, we saw that Grandpa Joe had fallen to sleep so we decided to wake him back up.

"Grandpa." I said and his eyes opened, quickly.

"Have you got it?" Grandpa Joe asked us so Charlie placed the Wonka bar in his hand.

"Which end should we open first?" Grandpa Joe queried.

Charlie insisted I open it so I chose a side and lifted the foil, only to reveal that there was no golden ticket.

We all sighed in unison and then went to bed.
