Wahi jo red color ka hotha hai sindoor bi bolthe hai...

Patha hai woh kaise bantha hai?aaj kal people use different chemicals to make it which is not at all safe and good for the skin.

The traditional way of making it is

Using turmeric,kumkum stone and javvadhu(telugu word idk what exactly its termed in hindi or english..this is powder which has some fragrance in it)..

Tumeric powder is mixed with kumkum stone powder to give the red color and javvadhi is added for fragrance.Now this is a powdered form which might not stay when you apply it.So a little bit of ghee or oil is added to make it possible to hold at one place when applied.

Why do you think we apply thilak or sindoor?

It is said that human body has seven chakras and the place between our eyebrows is believed to have third eye acting as a channel thru which human kind opens spirituality to the divine.

Tilak can be made of sandalwood or ash vibhuti ..turmeric...
It is also our tradition to welcome or give a sendoff to guest by applying tilak..when it is applied with middle finger..it gives age..little finger_gives peace ..first finger for moksh.

Since it is on forehead
It has cooling effect on the forehead.
It assists in concentration and meditation.
It increases the good and right thinking .
Being a religious symbol it talk a person on the path of spirituality.
It keeps away the negative energy.

Ab tho zamana badhal gaya hai boss..ladkiya khudh hi nahi lagathi kumkum...kumkum tho dhoor ki baath ek bindi nahi lagathi western culture ko apnaake....shaadhi shudha aurath tho lagathi hai..kuch log fashion ke chakkar mein nahi lagate..okok thats upto them..its their thought...ultimately its your face and your mind..you have ur own decision..just sharing my view..

Ek ladki jab sirf aur sirf thodi kumkum lagaye...it immediately adds a certain glow to her face jo makeup karke bi nahi aatha woh sirf ek choti si dot kumkum lagaane se aathi hai..woh glow hi alaga hai boss...haa maana ki kuch logo ka tradition nahi hai girls sindoor lagane ka..its ultimately their face and their choice.
