Lizzie's pov

I was on my way to the hospital after dropping the twins off at school to go and visit Y/N. I haven't been here as much with wanting to spend as much time with the twins. They need me as much as I need them to get through this. I had a coffee in my hand as I walked through the corridors to her room. Once I opened the door I was beyond shocked as the nurse was helping her speak.

"Oh my, you're awake." I cried as I raced to her bedside. Her eyes found mine and my heart soared as I finally got to look in those eyes I fell in love with all those years ago.

"She woke up a little over an hour ago." The nurse told me. "Her throat will still be scratchy so she won't talk just yet but everything seems to be working fine." She told me as Y/N's hand found mine and held it tightly. I could see the tears in her eyes as she gazed at me. I never truly realised how much I had missed her. I pressed a soft kiss to her lips which she kissed me back. When I pulled away she caressed my cheek smiling brightly.

"You have no idea how much I missed you baby." I whispered as I gazed into her eyes. "The twins missed you so much too." I told her and I could see the sadness in her eyes.

"I missed you all so much." She rasped out, her voice scratchy. I got her some water to help ease her throat. She took small sips before I placed it back on the table. I really couldn't believe it, she is awake.

Lizzie's pov

I was waiting on Tom to come and pick me up. We were supposed to be going on a date but he was running late. I was dressed in my black cocktail dress. I looked at my phone when it buzzed and it was a message off Tom.

Tom: hey, I'm going to have to reschedule. Something came up. I'm sorry.

I sighed before I put my phone back down and started to get out of my dress.

"Well that's a waste." I heard Y/N say.
I turned around with my hands holding my dress up. "So what was the occasion?" She asked me.

"Well I was supposed to be going on a date with Tom but he cancelled on me at the last minute." I told her as I watched her take a seat on my bed.

"Well that's kind of a dick move. What could be more important than spending the evening with you." She said as she watched my every move

"I don't know." I whispered as I had a million different thoughts running through my mind.

"Well, keep that on and we will go out. Like old times. My treat." She said as she walked behind me and zipped me back up.

"But what about Sophia?" I asked her knowing about her fiance's dislike for me.

"What about her?" She asked me as she passed me my shoes.

"Won't she be mad about you spending time with me?" I asked her as I put my shoes on.

"She hasn't got the right to since she's not my fiance anymore." She shrugged and I just looked at her.

"Are you ok?" I asked her softly as I stood up and fixed my dress.

"Yeah I'm good." She told me with a smile. "I just need to change my locks since I don't want a crazy ex breaking in."

"Well it's not entirely breaking in if she has a key." I smirked making her laugh.

"Exactly." She agreed as we walked outside. "So should we go to that new place down on main?"

"Yeah, let's go." I agreed as I wrapped my arm around hers as we walked. I was happy to spend some time with her without worrying about Sophia.

Once we were in the restaurant she pulled out my chair for me. We ordered our drinks and food.

"So how is college?" She asked me as she gave me her full attention.

"It is great. It's challenging but great." I smiled at her as our food came.

"You've always liked a challenge." She smirked making me chuckle and nod in agreement. "So how are things with Tom?"

"They're ok I guess." I said as I looked at my plate before me.

"Tonight isn't the first time he has cancelled is it?" She asked practically seeing right through me.

"No. I just don't know what it is that's wrong with me." I sighed out.

"There is nothing wrong with you Elizabeth. Anyone would be lucky to call you theirs." She smiled at me making my stomach do flips.

"Thank you." I told her barely above a whisper as we enjoyed the rest of our evening.

Y/N pov

It was amazing to see Lizzie after I don't know how long. Time becomes irrelevant when you have no means of telling it. You lose count of the amount of sunrises you get to see while in captivity. It sounds like I was stuck in a zoo.

"How long was I gone for. I lost count after 182 sunrises." I told Lizzie who hadn't left my side since I woke.

"You had been gone for nearly nine months and in a coma for 2 months from when they found you." Lizzie said softly as she held my hand in hers. It made me smile at the thought of her not wanting to lose touch at any time. "Almost a year without seeing your eyes or hearing your voice." She whispered as she fought back tears.

"When are the twins coming? I missed them both so much." I asked her changing the subject.

"Ashley is bringing them with some dinner later. They wanted to have dinner with their mama now she's awake." She smiled as she spoke.

"I can't wait to see them. I missed their sixth birthday didn't I?" I asked her sadly.

"Yeah. They understood why you weren't there. They knew it wasn't by choice." She told me softly.

"I'm sorry." I whispered as a tear slipped from my eye.

"You have nothing to be sorry for. You're home and that is all that matters to me." She said as she cupped my cheeks and giving me a much needed kiss. "You have no idea how much I have missed these lips." She whispered in a daze as she pulled away.
