Furys pov
Ugh. Time for another dull meeting where I have to blab on about something useless and tolerate Stark. They're a giant waste of my valuable time, but the council forces me to do them since they already think the Avengers are highly dangerous.
I pulled out Starks newest phone, the only perk of being his boss, and pulled open the contacts. I had each of the Avengers on here to call them into action. Steve was the most trustworthy to actually get everyone up here.
Steve
Fury
This is Fury.
Get everyone up here. Time for another meeting.
Barton's excused. Then I set my phone down and waited.
Ivy's pov
My feet drummed against the classroom floor. Nerves were getting the best of me, I had no clue what my father would be like when I got home, or if he would even be home.
My last class of the day was math, gods I hated math. Math is hard, like unnecessarily hard, with all the letters and numbers and symbols. JUST MAKE IT SIMPLE! I had sheets of homework to do on stuff I wasnt really paying attention to and I was already behind in Ms. Everetts class. I was much better at ELA.
The bell finally decided to release us for the day, though I wasnt really ever free. I started packing up my stuff when Ms. Everett called,"Ivy I need to see you after class." With an echo of "Oo"s following from the remaining kids.
I finished packing up my stuff and proceeded to try to walk out the door "Ivy, you're mute not deaf." She says grabbing my shoulder pulling me back in.
Rude. I sign looking very offended.
"Since you are failing my class I have signed you up for the tutor program. Your first session with your tutor is today. You are to go to the library right now and meet with your tutor." She says.
I end up standing awkwardly there not knowing what to sign or do. My father will hate to be called by the school especially because I'm failing and need a tutor. But he will also hate if I'm late without him knowing. I'm at a lose-lose situation here.
I just turn around and walk towards the library, better to have an education to help me along.
I reach the doors and push them open, looking around for my tutor. I expect another student, maybe one of the advanced ones or an older kid. But they'd have to find one that knows sign language or it would all be useless with the me not talking back thing.
My eyes finally land on someone in the far corner. Their sandy blonde hair blends into the familiar shelves. They're bent over the table so I cant use their height to base an age.
They must've heard the doors cause they look up. And my eyes recognize Hawkeye one of the Avengers. Why did they get an Avenger to tutor me? Good question I was going to ask.
"Are you Ivy?" He asks with a smile.
Disrespect slightly intended what are you doing here? I sign hoping he can and can't read ASL all at the same time.
"I'll take that as a yes." He says with a chuckle. "If you come back here we can start."
You didn't answer the question. I gesture.
"Right, right, sorry. So I'm Clint. I wanted to be more involved with the community. And I'm partially deaf. So I know ASL and I have more brains then I'm perceived to. So I saw this job and thought why not." He explains.
