» Ash's pov «
Zendaya and Silas had been amazing leading up to this project, helping me brainstorm ideas for the video. I eventually decided on a prom theme, using pink and blue lighting to express the masculine and feminine sides of the song. I wanted it to be a celebration of how far I've come and how much better I feel within myself.
I got to the studio before Zendaya and Silas, helping the crew with the camera set up and set design. From the beginning, I knew I wanted to direct the video myself as the whole album was about me telling my story. As the final decorations were hung in place, Zendaya and Silas walked through the door, makeup and outfits on. I was going to appear for a few close-ups but it would just be the two of them with extras for the most part.
"Thank you guys so much for doing this" I say walking over, bringing them into a group hug. I run through the timetable for the day, showing them where they'll be recording each scene. They're both professional so it only took a few minutes.
We started filming, the extras dancing around as Zendaya flipped off the camera in time to the music. She looked amazing as the lights whirled around her, capturing the sparkle from the glitter on her face.
Silas was next, watching over the dancers as the chorus blasted out. I managed to catch a video of him just after we stopped filming, him laughing at his favourite line in the song.
After they had both done their individual scenes, we took a quick break before returning for the final group dance scene. I was honestly in awe of everyone's work today.
Zendaya checked her nails quickly before the cameras started rolling again. They were fine of course; I was always amazed at her ability to be in a constant state of perfection. Silas had surprised me with his dancing abilities but after we stopped recording, he informed me that he had been sneakily going to dance lessons out of fear of being embarrassed and ruining the video. He was so sweet without even realising it.
