» Ash's pov «

Since New Year's, Flo and Zach had argued but were still together, taking things 'slow'. Whatever that meant. I was going to say something to her about breaking up with him, but it was her birthday today and I didn't want to upset her on her special day. Instead, I poured all my feelings into my new song, Ezra on a voice call with me as they drove to my house to help.

"Ash this song is insane already. You sure this is the first time you've thought about it?"

"I've been coming up with stuff for a while now"

"I'm guessing it's about a certain blonde who happens to be a year older today..."

"Yes, but you can't tell anyone. Every time Flo and I hang out or talk a new lyric comes into my head. This is the first time I've actually tried putting them into a song though. After the incident with Zach at RDJ's house, I don't want to give him any more reasons to argue with her. So instead of starting a fight, I'm writing music"

Ezra nodded before hanging up as they were about to go through a patchy spot of signal. I didn't mind though, losing myself to the song I was writing. Milo snuggled on the footrest beside me, nodding off to sleep as I sang.

Within seconds my phone was exploding with notifications from the photo I posted, my PR team giving me praise for getting my fans excited for new music already. My current album was still happily sat at number one, being knocked down briefly by Christmas music before making its way back to the converted spot. I wasn't planning on writing a song so soon after releasing my first album, but after Zach's actions, I had a plethora of things I wanted to say.

"Honey I'm home" Ezra yelled, trampling through my hall and onto the sofa next to me, slapping their laptop beside them. Milo ran to their lap, smothering them with slobbery kisses.

"So, you almost finished?"

"Surprisingly yes. Turns out anger makes me write songs faster. I don't have everything yet, but I'll show you what I've got so far"

Ezra pulled out a small recording device as I started to sing.

At the end of my singing, Ezra sat in silence with a look of shock plastered on their face.

"That's all I have so far. I still need the bridge, the intro, and an end, but I'm pretty happy with how the rest sounds"

"Pretty happy? Ash that sounds insane, not to mention gay as hell, which is awesome. Honestly, I have nothing bad to say about it. I do think we should build up with the backing instruments and make them more orchestral, but the lyrics are so good"

I beamed at their words, only realising at that moment how important this song was to me.

"I still have to get ready for Flo's birthday party, so while you think about the backing and producing of my newest track I'm going to go do my makeup. Oh and don't let me leave without Flo's gift"

I walked off to my room, leaving Ezra with their MacBook already humming as they created new accompaniments to go with my vocals. Milo was more than happy to stay with them, as they were known to be very generous with dog treats.
