Clarke's POV
What the fuck?
What in the horror-movie is going on?
I was not in a stable enough state to fully realize what was happening.
Is this a prank? Is someone so twisted and evil they'd joke about this?
And when did they even find out about this to joke?
"Clarke? Clarke, are you listening?"
"What?"
"I asked what does the message say?"
"Oh uh, nothing it's my mum. She wants me to go home."
Lying to Bellamy didn't feel right, but my emotions were too complicated right now to focus on that.
If this was a prank, it would never happen again. No need to worry him about that. Besides, telling Bellamy would probably worry me more too and I wouldn't be able to handle that as well.
And I really should see my mum.
"Oh. Of course, yeah. I'll drop you over with the car, you're in no state to walk home."
"Thank you. It's not necessary though, I can walk, really."
"Don't fight me on this. I'm here to help you Princess, you don't have to do this alone."
I took a deep breath while his words resonated in my brain.
You don't have to do this alone. With Bellamy by my side, I really was never alone.

"Mum!"
I rushed to her side and enveloped her in a tight hug.
Yes Bellamy was incredibly comforting but nothing compared to a mother.
"Oh, Clarke, let it out baby."
"I just- I can't believe it mum. I don't know-, what are we even supposed to do without him?"
"We'll figure it all out, you'll see. Everything will only get better from here."
"But how?"
I couldn't believe that. Life would never be better after this. Not without him.
"Because everything happens for a reason. This is rock bottom but it only means we'll thrive, more than ever. And he'll be watching us, always."
Her voice wavered at the end. I don't know if she even believed all that or if she was just saying it for my sake. Still, I held on her words hoping they were true.
I couldn't give her another response so I just tightened my hands around her and felt her do the same.
After a while, she let me go and finally looked at Bellamy.
"Hello Bellamy, thank you for bringing her home safe."
"Of course, mrs Griffin. My deepest condolences for your loss."
"Thank you dear." Then she looked at me, "You should get some sleep. Bellamy, would you please take her upstairs, make sure she does fall asleep."
Bellamy nodded his assent as I wondered, "What about you? Surely you deserve to sleep too?"
"I need to take care of a lot of things. There's a lot of paperwork and, of course, the funeral. A lot of people are already calling to give their condolences too. Someone needs to do all that."
"Don't overwork yourself mum, please."
"Oh don't worry about me."
I was almost sure she was just putting up an act, trying to be brave for my sake. She really was a great mum.
