John's POV

The cafeteria is always buzzing with noise at this hour and our table wasn't very different.

"Did you hear about Echo?Rumour is that she cheated on her new boyfriend again." Jasper announced as soon as he sat down.

"Where did you even hear that?" Jackson wondered.

"He's the king of gossip." Monty declared.

"Are we supposed to be surprised?" Bellamy muttered.

Yeah, Echo had a history of cheating. Bellamy knew that well.

"Are you guys going to the basketball game this weekend?" Clarke changed the subject. Bellamy turned at her with a thankful smile.

Ugh these two.

"Gotta support our Eagles." Miller replied.

The group started discussing the odds that our team had in the game, when I heard my phone beep. A new text message.

"Looks like I got replaced. It doesn't mean that your new friends are safe from me.
-A."

What the hell was this supposed to mean?

If someone was playing a prank, I had to admit it was a good one. If someone was serious, I had to admit they were completely insane.

Leaving someone on read was rude.

"Is this supposed to be a threat? Gotta step up your game.
-J.M."

The reply came sooner than I anticipated.

"When my words become actions, you won't even try to be sarcastic.
-A"

And another one immediately after.

"Scared yet? You should be.
-A"

What the fuck.
What the fuck.
What the fuck.

Not that I'd ever tell this to anyone if asked, but I did feel a little scared. This guy wasn't messing around.

"I need to go the bathroom." I blurted out and left before anyone could question me.

Nate's POV

"Should someone go after him?" Emori, who was clearly worried, asked.

"Don't worry, I'll do it." I volunteered.

I found Murphy pacing in front of the toilet stalls, looking pale.

"Murphy?" I tried to get his attention.

He looked up startled.

"What's up, Miller?" He played it cool.

But I had seen how anxious he was seconds ago. If he was fooling anyone, it wasn't me.

"I could ask you the same thing. What's gotten into you?"

"What do you mean?"

"Oh come on, you couldn't have sprinted out of the cafeteria faster."

"Maybe I just really needed to pee."

"That's not what you were doing when I came here..."

He gasped, "Are you spying on me?"

I rolled my eyes and said,
"I just stated a fact. Also I saw how shaken up you were when you got that text."

"Huh? I don't know what you're talking about." He pretended he really had no idea pretty well, but I had already seen his distress.

Then I thought of something, and I didn't like it. But I had to ask, just to be sure.
