I woke up to an empty, cold room. Cas must have left at some point during the night. I checked the clock on the table, 7:30am. Time to get up.
I pulled myself out of bed. For the first time since receiving the mark I had slept the whole night through. Well if you called 4 hours of sleep the whole night. I put on some semi-decent clothes and walked out of my room.
Cas was at the table with his head in his hands. He must have been deep in thought because he didn't know I was there.
"It can't be true," he was mumbling. "If you are God then just help me. You claim I'm your favorite, but yet you don't help me when I truly need you too."
What was he talking about. I cleared my throat.
"Dean. What. Umm. Good morning."
"Cas what's going on?"
"Well, last night Chuck or God talked to me via prayer. He said the same thing as before and claimed to be God. He wants me to make him prove it."
"Oh," I sat down and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "What are you going to ask him."
"The first thing that came to mind was have him remove the mark from your arm, but he claims that he can't until you 'admit your love to your lover' whatever that means."
He looked me dead in the eye. His eyes were glossy and a tear slipped from them. I reached up and wiped them away. My hand lingered on his cheek.
"It's going to be okay Cas," I lied. I pulled him up into a hug. "We can beat this. Together."
(Cas' POV)
Dean was trying to make me feel better but nothing helped. If Chuck is God he'd help me and Dean.
"I'm going to meet up with him again," I told Dean after a moment. "If he's God he'll have to talk to me and explain some stuff."
I stood up and walked to the door.
"I'm coming with you," Dean said following me. "I'm not being left behind again."
"No Dean. Stay. You need to work things out with Sam."
"Your not facing this alone."
"I have too."
"Don't you want me to come," he looked like a lost dog. The thought that I didn't need him was hurting him.
"Of course I want you to come," I reassured him.
"Then I'm coming." He grabbed his hunting bag and walked out the door. I followed obediently behind. This is going to be an adventure.
(Sam's POV)
After I got up I noticed the bunker was oddly quiet. Upon further investigation I realized nether Dean or Cas were around. I checked my phone nothing and it was only eight o'clock.
I began to worry. Where had they gone? I texted Dean a "where are you" and set off in search of some food.
I finally heard from Dean an hour later. His text read "out with Cas. Be back soon"
Why were they so close now. I shrugged off the feeling they were more than friends and headed out. There was no way I was just wondering around the bunker while Cas and Dean got to be proactive doing whatever.
I called Rowena and asked her to meet me at the bar. We had things to discuss.
