germany was no easy win for us, that's an understatement. in the third period, we were tied two to two.
jesse had decided to use the flying v and we all cheered everyone on. averman soon got the puck, shot, and scored! we all jumped and cheered for our teammates as it was declared we had won.
the following day, coach bombay wanted to meet up with the team and show us something. none of us had any clue what it would be.
"i've had a lot of big distractions since i've been here in los angeles," he began. "this is a distraction," he said as he held up a cutout of himself which said, 'for me it's hendrix.'
"nice haircut, coach," dean commented towards him. we all laughed aloud at his comment and then waited for our coach to continue.
he suddenly lit a match and threw it into the barrel next to him. "this is a fire in a barrel." i looked at connie who was sitting next to me. "mister captain obvious," i quietly said. she laughed at my comment.
hans then handed him is cardboard cutout of himself and coach bombay proceeded to stuff it into the fire lit barrel. "this is a distraction in a fire in a barrel. any questions?" he asked us.
we all began clapping at his actions. "nice one, coach," i said aloud. he bowed down in front of all of us which made us laugh.
the rest of the day and the day after were filled with either being on the ice, watching old film, or working out. we had to be prepared for what iceland was bound to bring to the table.
coach bombay had brought us all the way back to the basics, and i didn't blame him. it never hurt a team to focus on the simple things in the game.
as we were all running on the treadmills, i was next to goldberg. suddenly, coach bombay had hopped on behind him. "how you feeling today goldberg?" he asked the boy. "lean and mean."
later in the afternoon, we were back on the ice doing a shooting drill. adam was shooting bullets at the net and goldberg was only able to stop a few of them.
everyone on the team knew that no matter what, adam banks would make it to the pros. he was the kid who was born with natural talent. then adding on all the extra hours he put in made him even a better player.
the majority of us were planning on having dinner together down at the dining area. i was walking out with dean as he called back to adam, "banks c'mon!"
dean and i had caught up with fulton and talked about our last two days of long work. all three of us were complimenting one another and a few of our other teammates.
we had all arrived back to our rooms and were getting ready to go eat dinner. suddenly, the phone in my room began ringing.
it could either be tracey or marie, and i was not exactly in the mood to talk with marie. we hadn't talked since our argument and i didn't know what she would say to me. though i decided to pick up the phone, and it ended up being tracey.
"i am so sorry i haven't been able to call," i told the girl as i twirled the cord around my finger. "oh please, it's okay. it isn't like you're sitting there doing nothing. you've got a busy schedule, i know it."
i smiled at the girls words. "how are you and vance doing?" she proceeded to tell me how her parents love him more than she loves him and that she thinks she will marry him.
"please make sure you have a cute color for your bridesmaids. preferably burgundy or dark purple." she chuckled at my little comment.
"talking about love, what's going on with that one boy of yours?" a blush spread across my cheeks as dean suddenly popped into my head.
i proceeded to tell her about how he will secretly flirt with me and how i've caught him multiple times staring at me. a sigh left my mouth as i realized one thing.
"though i lied to him about my family, which i shouldn't have. i don't even know why i did, now that i look back." i bit on my bottom lip, a habit i had when i became nervous.
"i bet when you do tell him the truth of it all, he will accept your apology and understand where you're coming from. if he doesn't, he's a douche!" i laughed aloud at her words.
suddenly there was a knock on my door. i pulled the phone away from my ear and said, "come in!" dean suddenly appeared in the doorway.
"dinner is waiting for us, princess," he told me as a smile spread across his face. "i'll call you sometime soon tracey. i miss you and love you lots," i told her as i waited for a response.
"go have fun with dean! okay maybe not too much fun though. that would be really bad if you-" i hung up the phone before she could say anything else.
"let's go to dinner."
