She only moved her head an inch and immediately regretted it. Her head felt like it was still spinning from the blow to the temple. She saw blurred shapes but couldn't recognize what she was looking at right away. Might have been people she is staring at or furniture, at the moment she couldn't tell the difference.

Elsie shifted her weight around and realized that she wasn't on the hard, cold floor anymore. Something silky and fine in texture molded to her flesh. Wait. She sat up and rubbed her eyes only to glance down at bed sheets covering her lower body. Thankfully, she was clothed in a silk nightgown and the mattress under her felt like she was sitting on a cloud. Was this a dream?

"What happened?" she murmured, trailing her eyes over the unfamiliar room.

The bedroom was nice but it didn't compare to the size nor elegance of the master bedroom. A guest bedroom maybe? Was she even held in captivity anymore? She didn't know how long she was out for but the last thing she recalled was seeing a fist aimed straight at her face. Then everything went black. Since then, she's been in and out, not fully regaining consciousness until today. Whatever today was. Had she been out for an hour or a few days? Again, she didn't have the answers.

She flipped away the sheets, scooted to the edge of the bed to stand up when she felt the sheets snag on something locked on her finger. Elsie frowned, staring at the silver band that held a small, white diamond gem. She didn't need to ask why, who or how. She knew the answers to those questions and it would appear that she is still being held against her will. He did what he said he would do and she shouldn't be surprised to see that it had been done. Again, without her consent. This is a disturbing pattern she thought.

Elsie flung off the ring and tossed it to the floor. As far as she was concerned, she wasn't married to that demon of a man. She doesn't remember uttering the words 'I do' to the sanctity of the marriage and she certainly didn't agree to being struck with the man for the rest of her life. As far as she was concerned, she is still a single woman with no legal ties to Blair Stanton.

She moved across the room to head to the door unaware of the other presence in the room. Fed up, Elsie was going to confront Blair and demand an explanation. A deep voice clearing the person's throat made her freeze in place. That voice. It's him. Blair was somewhere in the room with her. When was she going to notice that? She felt the heat of his eyes burning into the back of her head and she slowly turned around.

The first thing she observed was his bare chest. The man was shirtless staring down at her as if she were a slab of cooked meat. His dark eyes lit with their own hunger feeding on the sight of her staring helplessly up at him.

"You dropped something, wife." He bent down, snatched her hand and shoved the ring back onto her finger.

Elsie sneered. "I liked it better when you called me 'pet.' At least I knew my place."
