It was strange how natural this felt. Edward found an apartment, all I had to do is sign my name and move in.
Of course, the real work would start once classes did and on work on top of that. Lucky for me, I'd negotiated for them to start paying my tuition right away.
Glancing around the cramped apartment, I had to smile. Edward's amount of stuff just in the bathroom would rival Holly's. I liked the look of this place, Holly's minimalistic style trumping my and Edward's lack of decorating.
Random pieces of furniture found their way into some semblance of a living room.
The bedroom situation was the most interesting to me. Holly's was the largest, fitting her queen size bed in, while mine was the smallest and I simply had a mattress and boxspring set on the floor. Edward's was in between ours and I didn't bother to peek into his arrangement.
I finally sat down on my bed and glanced around. Somehow, I had weaseled my way into the biggest closet. And although stuff was still sitting everywhere, most of it would become part of that space. Fake succulents lined my window frame and a couple paintings were mosaicked on the wall.
I found my space in the kitchen to be what most excited me. The three of us had gone in together on some nice dishes and I'd brought my silverware set from my old apartment. I'd also already loaded my cupboards with baking supplies. I suppose I should have let my new roommates know that I stress bake at all hours of the night.
Edward finally got off work. He smiled at me, "Hey, you made it."
I jumped a little, shoving a candle back on the coffee table, "Yeah! I got here a couple hours ago." I glanced up again, "I thought I texted you guys."
He shrugged, "Work was busy today, I haven't really been on my phone." He sat down on the couch, "So what do you think?"
I grinned, "It's nice. I like it. Feels like home already."
Edward headed into his room and shut the door behind him. I sighed, hoping that it would actually start to feel like home soon.
Once Holly got home, the real fun started. The three of us needed to talk through some ground rules and we'd decided to do it right off the bat. We plopped down on different chairs and I pulled out my computer.
"Okay, I made a google doc, so we can always have it to refer back to." I could see Edward roll his eyes and I snapped, "Hey, Mr. You've never lived with anyone except your parents, so don't be sassing me."
Holly grinned, "So, I want to make a cleaning chart for the bathroom. Cleanliness is very important to me."
I nodded, typing already, mumbling to myself, "Bathroom chart, clean." I wiggled my fingers over the keys, "I would like to say that people need to do the dishes. Like, can we do a rotation where we all just do them a couple nights a week?"
Edward blinked, looking between the two of us as though it never occurred to him that they would need to share chores. He piped up, "I'll take out the trash if you girls take care of all that other stuff."
I stopped, Holly stopped. The two of us stared at him in shock before I finally shook my head, "Gosh, Edward we're not married. There's no his or hers chores in this household."
Holly nodded, "That's right. We all do our fair share of the work." We went back to our charts and lists, making sure that everything was taken care of.
Edward finally pitched in, "Okay, the most important question... what show are we going to start watching together?"
Holly and I shrugged and then the three of us spoke together, "New Girl, obviously."
