My eyes flickered open as the sun rose outside. It was the morning of the flight and my stomach turned. This was my first time away from home, and it was going to be a very different life when I got to my new school in Threndal. At the bottom of my bed, I saw my brown leather backpack full of clothes and other things to take to Crescent High. I leapt out of bed, taking my room in for the last time. Sunlight bounced off the pastel yellow walls, giving the room a warm glow, and the fluffy carpet beneath my armchair matched the walls. Flinging open my wardrobe doors, I grabbed a nice outfit for the flight - a white blouse with a black tulle skirt and ballet pumps with little bows on the toes. Reef had told me it was quite a posh school, so I wore my best clothes to make a good first impression.
Again, my stomach turned - I was so nervous, and I wasn't sure what the other kids would think of me, or if I would actually have any friends when I got there. The doors of my large wooden wardrobe swung shut as I exited my room, making my way downstairs into the kitchen.

No-one was awake, just like the day before, so I went into the living room to read my new book. I sat on the sofa - it was cream, with moss green fluffy cushions - and swung my legs up, leaning back. The smell of the book was soothing, and I inhaled it, closing my eyes. This was my last chance to relax before leaving for my new school, and I planned to use every last second of it.
Opening my eyes, I sunk into the sofa, beginning my book. My eyes zoomed over the page, devouring the words - I was entranced - and time flew by.
Before I knew it, it was nine o'clock, and Reef was knocking on the door.
"Agh," I yelped, startled at the sudden noise, and jumped up in suprise. Moving over to the door, I opened it, greeting Reef with a smile.
"Just need to grab my bag," I told him, racing up the stairs to my room. After a few minutes, I was back downstairs, taking a deep breath before shutting the door, leaving my old life behind.
A car was waiting outside - it was a Porsche - and me and Reef got in, sitting down in the cool leather seats.
"Hey Ellis, how's it going?" asked Reef to the boy sitting next to us. The boy nodded curtly, before telling him that he was fine, and ready for school to start. "This is Ellis," Reef whispered to me. "He's Coral's friends brother, so I know him pretty well."
I thanked him, opening my book to read during the ride to the airport..

It was busy when we arrived at the airport, with cars driving around everywhere, dropping people off. There were many that were my age, most likely for Crescent High, and were all carrying massive suitcases. Glancing behind me at my own small backpack, I felt small compared to all of the other, more wealthy students, and thought that maybe, I could have bought more stuff. If I actually had any, that was. The bag on my back contained all of my belongings, and it was barely three quarters full.
"Reef," I said, quietly. "What is the school like, what kind of things do we do there?"
He mouthed "later", and walked off with Ellis, chatting animatedly about God knows what. Suddenly feeling very alone, I started to regret my decision, and thought that I should go home.

"Excuse me," I heard a soft voice ask. "Are you ok, you seem lost."
"I'm fine, I'm here with friends, but they went off and now I can't find them. Are you here for Crescent High?"
The girl nodded, saying, "I'm Rose Montgomery, you are?" Her golden hair fluttered in the slight breeze as I told her my name, and we walked inside the airport. She started talking to me about books, and I became more interested.
"My favourite author is Gemma Alawni, who do you like?" I asked, a smile appearing on my face.
"Oh, she's my favourite too, the Magiker series is just so amazing. I got the last one yesterday, and I could not put it down. I mean, Rowan and Hope found the cause of the Magik, and my head exploded!" Rose told me.

I felt a tap on my shoulder, and Reef appeared, telling me to come to the cafe. Reluctantly, I agreed, and we made our way to the cafe, Rose tagging along. "So, I'm Rose, who are you?" she asked Reef. He answered and sat down with Ellis at a table. We sat and talked for a bit, before an announcement could be heard.
"Flight 1472 is boarding now at gate 51 to Threndal."
The voice resonated through the airport and we all stood up, walking to the plane. Only now did it start to sink in. I was actually going.
I stepped onto the plane, and as I sat down in my seat, the engines started to rumble.

* Sorry I've not posted all week, I've just gone back to school, and it was very full on. But Chapter 4 is out now, and I hope it was worth the wait. *
