It was time for the winter break, and the school was buzzing with excitement. Chatter filled the entrance hall as we waited for the busses to arrive and take us back to the station.
"I can't wait to see my family again," Rose announced to the rest of us. "We're having everyone for the holidays this year." It seemed like Rose really liked her family, and I wanted to meet her brother at some point.A loud bell caught our attention and Professor Ereliar spoke up.
"Sorcerers of Crescent High, your busses have arrived to take you to the station. I bid you farewell and will see you all after your break on the third day of the first month. Have a nice rest."
And with that, the doors opened, and everyone flooded out into the front gardens. Waiting for us were the busses, in varying colours, all bright and shining in the harsh sunlight.
After a few minutes, the busses were full, and were cruising down the hill towards the station below. I could see Threndal stretching out around me, and I imagined what it would be like to live in one of the houses in the area, with lots of shops and facilities all at your disposal."Feonyx!" Reef's voice startled me out of my daydream, and I saw that we had arrived at the station. It was busy, most of the students from Crescent High already off the busses and going into the station.
I jumped up and shouldered my backpack, making my way outside into the chilly winter air. I shivered, and said, "Let's go inside, shall we?"
The rest of the group agreed, and we started to head through the glass sliding doors.
As we got inside, I felt the warmth flow through my body. Clearly, the others felt it too, as I saw them get more comfortable in their stance the minute the doors closed behind us.We waited for a little while, till our train back to Colorosa was due to arrive. Then, we started to walk to the platform, and just as we got there, the train opened its doors. I looked at my ticket, and started to head down the train alone, as no-one had seats near me. It was quiet without the constant chatter from my friends, and somewhat peaceful, if you could call a train that.
When I arrived at my seat, I sat down, and got the book on Myths and Legends from my bag, opening it onto the next page. This one was about the ancient sorcerers, and tales of their wars and kingdoms. As I read, certain words caught my eyes, such as dragon, and immortal. I thought back to my dreams of the lady, who I now thought to be an ancient sorcerer, reincarnated in the form of dreams, and wondered what she would have to do with it.The train started to move away from the platform, and off along the tracks into the countryside. Slowly, the gentle rocking of the train from side to side sent me to sleep, my eyes closing.
"Feonyx," I heard a soft voice say, and I realized it was the lady. She was looking pale, her usual glow fading away, and her dress lacking the shine that it once had. "You are running out of time."
I didn't know what she meant, and said, "Tell me everything." The lady nodded, and began to speak.
"I should start with my name. I am called Ciana. Once you have completed your task, I will fade away, for you will not need my guidance any longer.
"Now, onto your task. There is a group infiltrating your school, called the League of Death. They are aiming to take over it and steal the power of the students for themselves. You must find them and drive them away before they manage to achieve their goals. Good luck."
With that, she began to walk away.
"Wait!" I called, and she turned her head. "The egg, how do I hatch it?"
"That will happen with time, just wait, and you will find out what is in it. Be patient, Little One."
Then, the dream started to fade away, and I woke again in the train.I looked out of the window at the landscape speeding past. Even though it was a blur, could tell that we were about half an hour away from Colorosa.
The book about Myths and Legends lay open on my lap to a page about dragons. This looked promising, and I started scanning the page for anything useful. I know the lady, Ciana, said to be patient, but that was not one of my best qualities. So I flicked through the book for the remaining time on the train, my eyes whizzing across the pages that I read.
Soon, the train was pulling into the Colorosa station, and screeched to a halt. I put the book back in my bag and swung it over my shoulder, standing up and making my way onto the platform. My legs felt like jelly from sitting for so long, and my head spun before clearing up.
The platform was full of people, getting on and off the train that was ready to go back towards Threndal. Scanning the crowd for Reef - he was my ride home - I pushed through the mess of bodies and stopped by the stairs off the platform.
"Feonyx, over here," Reef called, and my head snapped round towards the sound. I could just see the spikes of his blue hair, and weaved through the people to get to him.
"Let's go, it's too crowded for my liking," I said, and Reef agreed, bidding Rose a fond goodbye. Megan had gotten off at an earlier stop to go to her family's ski lodge in the mountains on the other side of Everitia.
We ran down the stairs and found Reef's dad waiting for us in his car.
"PA!!!!!" Reef shouted, smothering his dad in a hug. "I've missed you so much!"
"You too, son, you too."
Me and Reef got in the back of the car and we set off on the drive back to Westfield.
"Thank you so much for driving me home, Paul," I spoke up. "It really helps me out."
He just smiled, and continued driving along the quiet country road.
A few minutes later, Paul asked, "How was school then? Was Coral nice to you?" He chuckled to himself before Reef began to answer.
"It was really fun. We started to learn Latin, and next term we'll be learning Dragon Riding. I'm so excited for it."
I looked at Reef worriedly. He wasn't supposed to tell anyone about the magical lessons at school.
"Don't worry," he reassured me. "Pa already knows, our family's been going to Crescent High for generations."
I breathed a sigh of relief as Reef told me that.
"What about you Feonyx? Did you enjoy school?" Paul asked me.
"Yeah, it was great," I responded, beginning to see the edges of Westfield through the trees.
"We're nearly there," Paul announced. "Maybe another 15 minutes will do it?"
I sat quietly in my seat for the rest of the journey, thinking about what I would tell my mum, and soon, we passed though the gates of Westfield.*And another chapter complete. I hope you enjoyed this one, and the next chapter might be out soon, I really don't know. I'll try though. *
