I woke up in a cold sweat, my breathing hoarse and ragged. The dream that I'd had felt so realistic, like I was actually there in that moment. The pain that I felt in my shoulder shouldn't have been there, and I could vividly remember all that had happened.
Sitting up, I pulled one arm out of the sleeve and peered at my shoulder. My other arm reached out to the light switch beside my bed, the room filling with a warm light. What I saw shocked me, my mouth dropping open in suprise. On my shoulder was a scar, running along where I had hit the person in the dream. It was slightly raised, and had a golden shine to it that made the skin around it glow.
I ran my finger along the line, a sharp pain shooting through my veins. Instinctively, I pulled back, the pain soon disappearing and the gold shine fading away, leaving the scar a dull grey.
I checked the clock. It was quarter to six - early for me. My eyelids began to droop once more, and I fell into a dreamless sleep.

The doorbell rang and I rushed to open it. Today was the day that Aunt Willow and Uncle Dan came to visit, with Kaitlyn, their little baby.
"Aunt Willow, Uncle Dan, it's been so long. How are you?" I gushed. "I can see that your family's grown, Kaitlyn's so cute!"
"Thank you," Willow replied as she placed Kaitlyn's basket on the floor. "And to answer your question, we're doing amazingly." She smiled, embracing me in a hug. "Feonyx, you've grown so much. How's your new school? Crescent High, is it?"
I pulled away, leading my relatives to the living room and sitting down.
"Yes, you're right. It's amazing! Oh, and, um, are you..." I trailed off, twiddling my fingers. I couldn't just outright say, 'Hey, are you a Sorcerer?' What if she wasn't - I would have just revealed a whole world to her!
"I am indeed. I can understand your cautions, after all, you can't expose the world. Dan is as well. We actually met at Crescent High," Willow told me as Mum entered the room.
"Willow," she screamed, charging at her sister with her arms outstretched. "It's so good to see you!"
"You too, Violet, you too. How are you doing, little sis?"
"I'm great! The plans have been approved to build a house just outside Colorosa, so we can see Kaitlyn grow up," Mum announced, and my jaw dropped.
"You never told me about this, Mum," I said, a little annoyed. "When will we be going then?" I tilted my head slightly and crossed my arms.
She stuttered, and moved back. "Um, in half a year, there or there about," Mum muttered, and motioned for us all to sit down.
"So, why was I not informed then?" I asked. "If we are going to be moving, I will want a say in when, and what the house will look like. After all, it is my life too."
Mum shrunk down, and began to speak. "Well, it completely slipped my mind when you came back, but I was meaning to tell you. It was only when Willow came that I remembered. However, it will be better for getting to school as it's closer to the train station and you can come home some weekends maybe."

"What about my life here? My friends?" My mind whirred with possibilities about what it would be like, and how my new life would turn out.

"Dinner's ready," Mum called from the kitchen. I could smell the meal, a traditional one, with roast potatoes and gravy, and my stomach started to growl.
"Coming, I replied, running through and sitting down in my seat with a flourish. "What are we having?" I rested my arms on the table as I waited for my brothers to arrive downstairs.
"We're having roast beef as your relatives are here and I know Willow likes it." Mum came through from the kitchen with a cut of meat and set it down in the middle of the table.
I could feel my stomach growl, and I stared hungrily at the food. "This looks lovely, Mum."
Footsteps sounded from the other room as my aunt greeted my brothers. I could hear them fuss over Kaitlyn and say hello to our family whilst they walked over to the table and sit down. We all waited for a few minutes for Mum to complete the final dinner preparations before bringing in the potatoes.
"Violet, you should have asked for help cooking," Willow exclaimed. "I would have been happy to."
"I didn't want to make you do that, you are a guest after all."
I sighed, and started shovelling my food down.

"Aunt Willow, I want to show you something," I announced. I stood up from my chair and dragged her up too. "There's a book I want you to see." We made our way out of the room, and once we were out of earshot of the others and in my bedroom, I asked the question. "Can I show you my magic?"
She agreed instantly, and I grabbed the cup of water by my bed. "Aqua Flexuram," I whispered as I waved my hand over the glass. It instantly shot up, and I spun it into the air before dropping it back down with a splash. "Lux et luceat." I spoke another spell, and turned off the lights in my room. Concentrating hard, I condensed all of the power into my hand, then squeezed and shut off the flow. It all went dark.
Almost as soon as the light went out, I turned on the switch and we were flooded with brightness. I could see Aunt Willow smiling across the room, and I made my way over to her.
"That was great, Feonyx, you're such a talented sorcerer." My aunt ruffled my hair, and opened the door for us to go back downstairs.

*Finally I've had motivation to write, so this was born. This chapter is exactly 1000 words, which is pretty satisfying to me. Perhaps the next one will come quicker?*
