"Feonyx," Rose screamed when I entered the room. She ran over to me and dragged me to the seats. "Look what I did!"
I looked around, and realized that Rose had got some new furniture and it looked a lot better. There was a new rug - pure white, and very soft - and new cushions were laid on the chairs and sofa. A modern glass coffee table was placed in the middle of the rug, with a vase of irises on top. They were purple, to match the school colour scheme.
"Wow, this is amazing!" I exclaimed, picking up one of the new cushions and throwing it at her playfully.
"Oi," she squealed, seeming just as playful as I was. Soon, we were in a full on pillow fight, whacking each other with cushions and throwing them at the other person. We were laughing, and it was so much fun.
"What is going on in here?" I heard someone ask. Turning around, I saw that it was Megan, her arms crossed and a scowl on her face.
"A pillow fight," replied Rose innocently, smiling. "Oh, and my parents sent me some furniture for the room." She gestured to all of the pillows strewn around the room and the glass table.
Megan made her way to the armchair and sat down, taking her phone out of her pocket. "Well, how did you do? I was the last person."
"Ah, I got 12 for mine," Rose told us, looking proud. "Did you have a blackout as well. I dreamt of a field full of bunnies and kittens and flowers."
Hesitating for a minute, Megan opened her mouth to speak. "I dreamt of a tropical island, just like the one I went to on holiday a couple of years ago. At the end, it was revealed that I got 11, so just less the than you. What about you Nyx?"
Remembering my dream, I walked over to my bed, sitting down. "My dream was a bit weird. It was just like one that I had last night, but different. I don't want to talk about it. On the plus side, I got 15. I don't know what it means though." My friends' mouths dropped open in shock, and Rose moved to a chair, sitting down.
"The number is your power level. The higher it is means the more powerful you are," Rose explained to me, and the reactions of my friends made a lot more sense now.
I thanked Rose, taking my book and opening it, getting stuck in.📚
It was dinner time, and all of the students were called to the dining hall. The tables were full, each with varying amounts of people on, and meals were popping up every minute. I chewed on my roast gammon, savoring the taste that was tingling my taste buds. Across from me sat Coral, Reef's sister, eating a fruit salad. Rose looked slightly jealous at her, but I didn't know why.
"You're going to get your timetables now," Coral muttered, just before Professor Ereliar stood up and clapped his hands. My head turned towards him, all of my attention focused. It seemed like the rest of the school was captivated by him, as there was no noise, not even a whisper.
"Crescent High." The headmaster's voice echoed round the hall. "Please give a warm welcome to this generation of First Years. They have just completed their second test, and will be starting their classes tomorrow. This means that they need their timetables."
In front of me appeared a piece of paper, with my lesson plan on it.
Professor Ereliar continued to speak. "As you know, each year has a head girl and boy. Unfortunately, the head boy for Third Year has not been able to make it this year, so we have chosen a new one. Dominik Frezalski is who we have picked.
First year needs their heads, who we have chosen. They will be model students to the rest of their year, and we have chosen Reef Dizaxel and Feonyx Tay as those students."
Reef and I looked at each other in disbelief before standing up and making our way to the front of the dining hall. There, Professor Ereliar spoke an incantation.
"Benedictio dei," he chanted, resting his hands on our shoulders and a grey light appeared. When it faded, a new crest was on our white shirts, but it was in Latin, the language of magic.
We walked back to our seats, and chatter resumed, filling the hall. Slowly, less and less people were in there and we left, going to our rooms for bed.* Feonyx is head girl. How exciting! Sorry to the non meat eaters out there for the meal that Feonyx had but it reflects what I was eating that day. At least Coral is veggie. *
