*Sobs* "Auntie, relax. I'm not moving to another country" I tried to comfort my aunt who was sobbing like crazy. "Still! You're so far away from me" I rolled my eyes in a playful manner and chuckled at Aunt Aria's little separation anxiety. "Don't worry auntie, it's just a 45 minute drive. Now let's get going. I got a lot to unpack and organize." "Fine." With that, my aunt let out her last sniffle and we made our way to my new home.
"I'm going back to 505. If it's a seven hour flight or a forty-five minute drive" We sang along to 505 by Arctic Monkeys playing on the radio. "Let's see...block 7 lot 55" Aunt Aria murmured to herself trying to find the whereabouts of my house. "Auntie, auntie, auntie" I said in a frantic manner "Our favorite part's coming up" She paused and prepared herself for the epic part. When the instrumental was over we shouted at the top of our lungs to the song "I CRUMBLE COMPLETELY WHEN YOU CRY! IT SEEMS LIKE ONCE AGAIN YOU'VE HAD TO GREET ME WITH GOODBYE-" "oh- OH! DIANA THERE IT IS! BLOCK 7 LOT 55" I stepped on the breaks and we got out of the car. Bringing out the boxes from the back and opening the door for Yiru, we went inside my new place.
"Now, Diana. You're new to the neighborhood so it is crucial to give your new neighbor something." She lectured. "How 'bout I grab some groceries and whip something up while you decorate and organize here. Sounds good?" I nodded and placed the last batch of boxes on the floor. "Great idea. Take care auntie." I waved at her and watched as her retreating figure got in the car and drove off. After checking all the rooms and assigning the boxes to their designated spaces I started working on my humble abode. "This is my bedroom, guest room, library/ office aaaand the room downstairs will be the music room." *woof* I turned to the door and saw Yiru dragging his dog bed. "Ah yes of course." I placed his doggy bed beside mine and his stuff under my side table.
Once everything was in place, Aunt Aria arrived with the groceries. "The mall here is ugh- chef's kiss." She said while placing the items on the table "I also got you this." She whipped out a book with a purple piano scribble on the cover. "Little Women! I've been wanting this book for ages. Thank you auntie." I flashed her a wide grin and she started cooking various kinds of pastries.
"I. AM FINALLY. FINISHED." Aunt Aria exclaimed triumphantly. I set my decorating aside and walked to the kitchen to see whatever masterpiece my aunt crafted with her godly hands. Entering the kitchen the warm cozy smell of pastries greeted my nose. There on the counter sat cream puffs, macarons and eclairs. "Not you pulling a Marinette Dupain-Cheng." I said as I popped a cream puff in my mouth. "Well, you gotta impress the neighbors every once in a while." Yiru hopped on my lap asking for a pastry but he wanted to hear no in Spanish "Noh- these aren't good for doggos." I grabbed a peanut butter cookie from Yiru's special cookie jar and fed it to him because I'm a good dog mom.
"Oh by the way." Aunt Aria said, catching my attention. "Your neighbors are coming here for dinner." My eyes widened. As big as a vinyl record. "WHAT!?!?" "I invited them for dinner." Auntie said in a cheerful innocent manner. SHOOT SHOOT SHOOT- THE HOUSE IS STILL A MESS. Alright Lydian Caprice, calm down you can do this. "They'll be here in 10 minutes." NOPE- I can't do this. Plan B: Shove all the remaining boxes in my room where they won't see them. Grabbing the boxes in the living room and kitchen I scurried to my room. "One for all: Full Cowling" I said underneath my breath for a little bit of motivation. "Diana, can you help me move the piano into the room?" Sugar honey iced tea I forgot about that big ass piano. "Sure auntie! I'll be down in a bit!" I shouted from upstairs. The sound of the bell ringing made my heart leap out of my rib cage. "OH- They're here!" My aunt said with pure excitement laced in her voice. How can she be so cheery when this place is a mess!?!?
I rushed downstairs and immediately pushed the piano to the designated room. "Auntie making me channel my inner Bruno Mars." When I got out of the soon to be music room the guests were already seated. I'm surprised how auntie was able to clear the dining room and kitchen while baking. Well. multitasking is one of our family's quirks- Anyways, before I could walk out I looked down to my trousers, realizing I was still wearing pajamas. Wanna see some real speed, bitch? Again, running upstairs with the speed of Mercury. Changing into some decent pants that did not have a dinosaur pattern I finally headed downstairs. I took a seat beside my aunt while she talked to my new neighbors. "I'm so happy you agreed to have dinner with us! I made pastries but the macarons need to sit for a day before you can eat it so I just thought we could share a meal with you today." "We're happy to meet you too! Ms?" One of the guests asked. "Oh, I'm Aria Caprice! Just call me Auntie Aria. This is my niece and your new neighbor. Lydian Caprice. Her nickname is Diana though."
"Nice to meet you! I'm Trevor Apollo. And this is my brother, Dominique Apollo. I hope we can get along!" The taller male uttered with optimism. Dominique seemed to be hypnotized by the feast in front of us. "What are we waiting for? Let's dig in!" When auntie said that we started to dig in and enjoy the night. They were pretty fun to be around with. Looks like moving and living on my own won't be so bad after all.
